Thanks for this commentary. I've been shooting recreational and competitive pool since my teens in the early 70's with above average success. I watch a gazillion YT instructionals nowadays, but the object ball position here is one of great frequency in most any billiards game. And one that is easy to take for granted.

Great video, just subbed thanks. One minor gripe is I'd much prefer the annoying and dated background music to be removed in future videos (none of the other pool channels have any background music). Trying to be helpful rather than criticising 🙂

To each their own. But I didn't mind the music cause the video had a good pace and energy to it. Nice home set up btw. 👌

Great drill! I always put the 9 in that area but give myself another ball to play shape off of. I think I am going to incorporate this into my warm up as well! Good stuff!

So at first you're saying give yourself reference points then when you do the drill you just put the balls down stand back get down and hit it into the pocket without giving yourself the reference points you said to give yourself. The point of this drill is to get your muscle memory right and your thought process right in all the aspects of the shot so if you do the drill without referencing anything surely you will do the same in a game especially under pressure as you have trained yourself to do this shot with no references. You have the right idea but think the drill was performed wrong as it should also include the referencing of the balls and targets points. I started as a snooker player and when doing these drills the first thing you're taught is to find those reference points before getting down on the shot so when you're under pressure you do it automatically. Thanks for the video and your hard work in preparing it but drop the music as I'd rather hear you than the music. Subbed. Ps I do some tuition for beginners and try to get them into doing these sort of drills. I always point them towards guys who can teach in a good style and you do so keep it up.

Thanks for the input… This was my first instructional video so I was think of a million things and was in a hurry for some reason. I usually do this drill slower and look at references on the difficult ones. But I will definitely be dropping the music. Thanks again!

Your video came up on my feed. Good stuff. Subbed. Question though. When you're shooting the object ball into the corner pockets, you're hitting two rails after. I see that a lot, but can't figure out how to do it. Is it just center, bottom, or spin?
@mulhollenbilliardschannel654
@mulhollenbilliardschannel654 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! To dig the cue ball 2 rails on that shot would be low outside English. So if you’re cutting the object ball to the right use low left. Cutting the object ball to left use low right. Thanks for the question!

@@mulhollenbilliardschannel654 OK, I just watched all 3 of the restoration videos. You really did a nice job on your table. I think the white paint looks great. Keeps that vintage look. I had seen the Brunswick video that you showed in episode #1 before. I love the way that pool room looks with the older Gold Crowns and the cue racks and chairs that went with them.

Tangent line isn’t a scratch. Natural forward looks like a scratch but that’s not the tangent line. Tangent line is a 90 degree angle off the object ball. He low draws so cueball is sliding and takes the real tangent. Hope that wasn’t your comment bubble!! 😂
@mulhollenbilliardschannel654
@mulhollenbilliardschannel654 Жыл бұрын
Looking at it again it is awful close to the tangent line, but you may be right. I know he’d rather roll that ball than hit it with drag draw to avoid the scratch. I’ve known how to measure the tangent since I was 11. Talk about splitting hairs in a KZbin comment section 🤣
@6mdm
@6mdm Жыл бұрын
@@mulhollenbilliardschannel654 splitting hairs? Are you serious? IT’s THE ABSOLUTE MOST CRITICAL SHOT IN THE GAME? Everything stems from tangent line and NO, it is not even close. The natural roll is the scratch. Don’t feel bad, Neils Feijen calls the natural roll the tangent as well. Many pros get it wrong too. They are not professors. I agree with everything else you said though! 😁🤓
@6mdm
@6mdm Жыл бұрын
@@mulhollenbilliardschannel654 by the way, the tangent is actually closer the top left corner, or close to it. If you freeze a ball to the 9 and just cut it to the right it will take the tangent and you will see your 90 degree isn’t even close. You have a great commentators voice. Good points you make as well.
