Makes a lot of sense, especially for someone like you that can stretch these out a slew of last minute deals. $450 for a week, how many people's mortgage or rent is above $1,800 a month? I think my persistence in travel comes more from credit card rewards, maxing out categories and loopholes. Recently I've put $15K on BILT during elevated earning days for 2X, then transferred it to Alaska Airlines with a 50% boost (next year I'll have status for a potential 100% boost). 45K Alaskan miles is 85% towards what I would need to fly premium economy to Madrid one-way. Had I spent that $15K on a 2% back card, it would have yielded $300 cash back.
