I just bought a Pro 7 i5 as my 1st Surface device. So far, like you I am surprised how much I use it as just a tablet, no type cover.

Hey. It's been 4 months since you wrote this comment? How has the tablet experience been so far? I also bought my surface when it came out and I swear to God, the touch screen keyboard is not the greatest experience ever. I'd rather type on my Samsung phone than on the surface.
@ccroy20014 жыл бұрын
Tucker Coffin I no real issues for me I still use the Surface onscreen keyboard for light typing. Anything like writing a document, filing out forms, etc. I’ll use a physical keyboard. What don’t you like about the onscreen one?
@tuckercoffin21644 жыл бұрын
@@ccroy2001 I've had some issues with it. For example if you're in let's say the feedback hub app, type something, then switch to Microsoft Edge, close the keyboard and return to the feedback hub app, the window of the app does not get resized and the place where you had the keyboard just stays empty. I've also had problems with the keyboard opening or closing randomly resulting in me accidentally clicking on things. Sometimes holding the the backspace key down would only delete one character and I'd have to press on that button many times to delete a whole word. Sometimes I'd be typing something in a field and the field would look empty even though when I pressed enter, it submitted what I had actually typed in. I guess it's fine while taking notes with the pen and occasionally googling something but if I have to do some intense typing, I'll just return to the physical keyboard instead. I'm wondering if something like an iPad would not offer a better typing experience. But yeah otherwise I just love it. It charges quickly, it's the lightest and smallest laptop I've ever had. I can write and draw on it and I can program on it if I want to. It's most definitely replaced my other laptop which I only occasionally use for gaming.

@@tuckercoffin2164 I have an iPad Mini as well and yes for tablet only typing the iPad is better, however Apple's autocorrect is aggressive and can be annoying. I tried using the iPad as a computer with a mouse and keyboard and for me, the Surface is a much better computer. No need to learn gestures, more ports, accessible file system, and so on. Presently the Surface is my computer it replaced a desktop and a laptop as I don't do anything really taxing on a PC.

@@ccroy2001 Same here. The Surface Pro is a pretty good computer. I was also wondering if I should get an iPad, but since most of the stuff we do is done in the browser anyway, I'll be fine without it too. I also love the Surface's kickstand. I can just sit on my bed with one leg bent and put the surface on my knee. Haha. It is literally the most comfortable position I have ever found using a laptop.

But I hate having to do it at my computer but PC has the best Programs for drowing, painting, and making comics. I have been using an Android tablet this year which has been so freeing but the art programs aren't great. And I HATE Apple, I hate their company and business practices and I refuse to spend my money on them. It will be so nice to use a professional digital art program again but fully mobile. @@narongroth2678 sorry I'm late on this. The battery life is not the greatest. Off the charger with the brightness about 50% I can get a good 5 to 6 hours. What makes this bare able is the fast charger that is included. If I don't have my charger, I carry around a 45 watt hour power bank that can charge this too so I'm ok with the battery life .

Good Review on sharing many open different angle views. ... My own experiences using 2 weeks Surface Pro X, and MS Surface Pro 7 core I 5 Before having MS Surface Pro X , I bought SF pro 7, it is working well and fast. After 2-3 weeks, I had to buy another one computer, I had to give SF pro 7 to my college to work continue 1 week for urgent adhoc many reports requested by customer. Then I have to buy another surface for my parallel works on presenting, office and web browsing, traveling several places. when I saw SF Pro X firstly open in Microsoft Big Event and later in the MS shop seller, I was very impressed on very nice improved design and functions of MS Surface Pro X. Design look the best among the nowadays tablet, and smart ultra traveling notebook . 13” screen is good for views. Quality of screen and sound and video were much improved than older pro version. So, I have gone through studying a lot from Surface Pro X reviews, both on their MS own website and third opinions. Most of reviewers, youtubers focused only performance and limitation on new ARM processor, those said many problems on negative about Surface pro X. So I think, I should try and explore more details by myself on this Product, because... I don't want to have 2 surface similar. I wanna try different. And I believe inner inside that, "MS team must have some good reasons to launch something new by new chipset with this ARM". There should be reason good enough to go for ARM with this product. I like thing about starting of AI feature on this SQ1 chip. “After hearing other, better to try with your own experiences.” ... Then have to do my own test, I went to the seller Shop to do the test. I bring my SSD HD data containing many of files, that i regularly use to do my own real test at Surface Pro X seller shop spending almost 1-2 hours for all tests. I am the one who usually do the works on MS office. I do reports with MS word, one file size could be more than 100 MB. At the same time I would do multiple tasks, opening Excel sheet picking up several data financial and analysis technical data several sheet calculating. Moreover , I am doing at the same time opening 10-15 pages pdf file parallel with doing slide presentation with power point that containing tons of high definition of pictures and videos. While doing all above I am opening many windows of web browsers, doing search internet data. One can be email on gmail, one is opening youtube music for relaxing, anothor one could be working on email, another one monitoring stock and gold price, ready to buy and sell. While I am testing, I open my presentation slide made of MS power point, that is quite big size of 400 MB. With lot of HD pic and Video embed on it to test the severe case. All of working windows, I open through my SSD HD connected via USB C port because Testing SF Pro x at the shop is demo machine. All that programs and open windows as mentions above on test are working very well. While doing all many tasks on Pro X as all above I mentioned, opening 100 MB with MS word doing report, opening youtube 4 K, opening several files (excel, pdf documents, edge browsers surfing more than 10 pages web browsing ) to copy data to creating report, and also at the same time doing that quite big size 400 MB slide presentation. Result is that, MS Surface pro X is working smooth without any problem, working fast, honestly to say that it is slower a bit comparing to surface pro 7 core i5 256 RAM, as I said, the one I gave to my college for working on writing reporting . (I would say that Microsoft Pro X, at the shop, is the one that skilled seller just update lasted programs, software and firmware, I guess many things and problems were fixed.) Web browsing and Movie on KZbin are working very well with impressive quality. See clear on big screen, Nice details with full High Definition, Resolution is almost 4 K movies with fine and smooth through my eyes. . The sound and movie are showing on Surface Pro X are very IMPRESSIVE. The sound is not as good as iPad Pro , but it is really good enough to enjoy the entertainment. The outlook of SF Pro X design is very impressive, pretty much beautiful. The handling, carrying Surface Pro x is very suited for traveling people like me, while I am going out to give lecture and consulting to students and customers. Due to the working style and my age, I don't mind much about gaming performance, because I do not have much time left for games. I used to be a game lover when I was young, but after coming to some old age, I gradually fade off it. Photos and Videos I usually take and work simply by iphone and ipad. So Adobe Photoshop and A Illustrator or A Premiere were never used on this Surface. But heard that in a few months, Adobe team is working on to develop those photo apps to be compatible on ARM. MS Edge and Edge Canery developed for ARM is working very smooth and fast. So that is enough support for me to choose this computer, MS SF PRO X. So, I made decision to buy Surface PRO X. New MS PEN is used for many comfort functions. It is really work for noting, drawing very good ergonomic and smooth use. After buying, This MS Surface Pro X had been tested, opening files, working all day and night. Even I take rest sleeping, but computer had to be opened , because continuing work on many data files. This SF had to keep running open to finish more than 3 reports, the Due Diligence reports for customer in 2 weeks. Each report size is more than 60-90 MB and has more than 100 pages. So the long time test had proven its reliability and stability. I would say this Surface Pro X is very best suited for me. Nice Design, very lightweight, look smart when presenting work to customerss, Good for web surfing and browsing data, watching movies in KZbin. ... People use different computers for their different purposes and experiences, select the one that fit to you. I do like one the Pro X machine. When it is working such a long time, it is notices that this machine is not as heat as SF pro 7 , I think because of lower power (watt) used in ARM processor. All above mentioned, I do love this MS Surface Pro X. Its designs, functions, and features are very fascinating one.

I'm pretty worried about the non-replaceable drive, I'm more of a desktop user looking to get one of these tablets and I had a laptop die once and I had to replace the entire motherboard for it which was not a fun process. The fact that if this one somehow dies and I'm totally screwed is no bueno towards the actual device cost. Ugh.

The only thing I would buy the Surface pro 7 over the Surface pro X is the usb-a and the headphone jack.

Can we use for programming, coding?

Great review. I purchased a surface pro 7 i5, 8gig, 128. Still returnable. I got it for $699, so I hope to keep it. Reading text on this is not as clear & sharp as on my 2 year old 13.3" Dell Inspiron. It's acceptable but blurry in Chrome. Unacceptable in Word & Excel, to the point where some Word & Excel icons are so blurry, they can't be identified, even if I stop to squint & put my face into the screen. Changed to gray mode, which helped me see the documents better, but the icons are still stop & stare. I got this for productivity & speed in detailed work in word & excel & for reading, research & drawing. Tried adjusting the contrast, which helped marginally. played with the magnification, which didn't help, I put it back to recommended setting. Have you experienced this? Any ideas how to resolve? I noticed you have a black one. Does it get more fingerprints than the platinum? Which is more durable? For best productivity, do I need to get a laptop & forget about the tablet? Thanks! :)

I am taking IT classes. So is the i5 or i7 suitable for using programs like wireshark VMware and other heavy usage programs. I used my pro 3 i5 in class and it lags.

I really hope they start using higher refresh rate displays on their next line-ups. Even for the Go it would be a deal breaker for me.

SPs are for productivity, not gimmicks...
@notfound_634 жыл бұрын
@@RK-um9tu higher refresh rates aren't gimmicks, it's just that the 60hz should've disappeared many years ago. Now that smartphone manufacturers, and also Apple with their iPads realized that, it'd be a mistake to argue they're gimmicks for Microsoft. You're just removing a feature that can be disabled anyway when you need to save battery and isn't all that expensive to include anymore. In the other hand, these machines are fairly capable of running light games like rocket league or CSGO, but since you're limited to a 60hz refresh rate they're basically unplayable. You can't use a SP to play them regularly without an external display, which just kills its portability for this particular use case. It would be as easy as overclocking their displays to create a new and amazing use for these products that I've personally been waiting for for a long time now.

@@notfound_63 If playing games on your phone is a priority, let's pick up this discussion when you become a working adult. As for Apple, iPads aren't computers which is why they are popular with children, stay-at-home moms, and senior citizens...
@notfound_634 жыл бұрын
@@RK-um9tu I think you don't get my point. A Surface is not a phone, it's a Windows tablet. And it would benefit from a higher refresh rate much more than any phone or Android tablet. That's a fact. And if people keep thinking what some brands want to make us think, there'll never be evolution. Obviously, for basic productivity work like word, excel or power point you won't need anything higher than 60, but those who do content creation, or artists who use it as their main tool to draw (which do exist as the SP's pen is apparently wonderful for that) will highly benefit from a better refresh rate. That's why many have already switched to iPads. The thing is, this feature wouldn't hurt anyone (not counting a possible price increase), but not having it is sometimes determining in choosing one device or another, or in buying or not buying a device.

@@notfound_63 iPads sales have been declining since 2015. Their market share is down to around 36%. Sales growth from Q2 2019 to Q2 2020 was 1.3%. Conversely, top 4 Android tablet makers all has sales growth of over 40%. iPads have lost over 500,000 apps since 2017. As for number of apps, Apple 1.8 million, Android 2.7 million, Window 35 million. People are leaving iPads because they want productivity, not gimmicks....Facts
