Hey man, I am curious now that this has been on your truck a while how the hybrid system handles it? When winching, do you experience the blower fans slowing down or any lights dimming? I would assume the hybrid motor system/battery is more than capable of producing the high amperage required for a 12v winching setup, but Toyota must have limited it to some extent. With a winch sometimes having up to a 500amp draw under maximum load, I am very curious how the truck handles it. Thank you!

Well happy birthday man! I too will be 42 in April this year and luckily no senior moments........yet 😆. Winch is a nice accessory to have and finishes off that new bumper nicely.

Love your videos. Very detailed and when I get my Tundra next month, I’m putting some of your instructions into practice. I was glad to see that you had no trouble accessing the clutch on the winch from behind the grill. I had wondered if that would require access from the grill and didn’t see how that would work. Mine will have the factory 3” lift, so hopefully I can reach a winch without a booster. 😂
@NitroZ18Fishing8 күн бұрын
Thanks man, I appreciate that!! Yea plenty of room to reach down in there to access winch, if the lift isn’t too high 🤣. Lemme know if I can ever help with anything!

Since your disconnect switch is so far away from the battery I recommend adding an inline fuse near the battery as any wire between the switch and battery is “hot”. Also you could of use any ground location in the engine bay or even frame where the bumper attaches instead of running them all the way to the battery.
@NitroZ18Fishing Жыл бұрын
Not a bad idea with the fuse, I actually thought it was weird it didn't come with one!...may be a stupid question, but would grounding it like that be ok with the winch???...I've grounded other accessories like you mentioned but I've never seen anyone ground a winch like that...and the instructions specifically say to connect both positive and negative directly to battery...thanks man!
@luny_mrg8868 Жыл бұрын
@@NitroZ18Fishing I believe those instructions are like that to ensure a complete circuit as alot of applications use an independent battery that are not grounded to the frame IE on trailers. Since your battery is already grounded to the frame, grounding the winch to the frame would complete the circuit. Just ensure it’s a clean connection and not covered with paint.

Can you show how the electrical connections were made at the battery? I also noticed on your battery has a box on top, never seen that on battery before. Thanks for all your content!
@NitroZ18FishingАй бұрын
Absolutely! The connections were made with just your standard ring terminals, nothing special. Obviously had to get the correct size to go with the large gauge wiring, but pretty straight forward! That box on top of my battery was from my Rough Country switch panel I was using at that time. I do have an install on the channel going over that as well. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

Just out of curiosity how did you connect the wires to the batterie? My batterie has a quick connect on the negative terminal and the batterie slots seem to be completely full I thought about getting a splitter or getting some vampire connectors to attach to the existing wirers. I plan on running 1/0 to a buss bar I'm going to install in the engine bay.
