Eventful project for our John Deere 1025R. Johnny levels and smooths huge mud piles using Heavy Hitch Toothbar and King Kutter Tiller. Polaris Ranger pulls Johnny out of the mud. Aggressive snake puts up a good fight. Once again the 1025R proves to be a great multitask-er for the homeowner.

Folks keep asking why I didn't use the bucket to pry myself out. The answer is simple. There was no solid ground in front of the tractor. I was headed slightly toward the creek. Attempting to use the bucket would have simply thrown mud back into the creek. This would have defeated the primary purpose of the project...removing excess mud from the creek. Earlier in this very video, I had used the bucket to get 'unstuck', so this was not an ignorance issue. We edited out the 'explanation' of why I didn't use the bucket in this case to keep the video more interesting.

You really need to learn how to keep that bucket as low as possible when traversing over uneven terrain. Narrow wheel base and the lack of machine weight will eventually put you on your side.

Just a rule of thumb. For every foot down you should be a for over from the edge. At least that's what i tell my customers when i brush hog for them. You don't want the edge to give way with the weight and vibration of the tractor. Not trying to be a safety sally just giving advice. Take it or leave it. Great job!!! Looks beautiful specially once everything stays growing back. Only good snake is a dead snake

Great job Tim and Christy. Isn't it nice that Johnny does most of the work?! I let snakes be if...they don't come after me or aren't poison. Although I did take a baby rabbit away from a black snake. If it would have killed the rabbit it would not have been able to eat it so I freed the rabbit and let the snake live another day. The black snake was only 4' long and it just looked at me as I uncurled it from around the rabbit. Maybe I should have put it in a box and sent it to Christy. :) I wouldn't do that to you Christy. The baby rabbit did live and went on it's way. I had to rub it's belly to get it to breath better. It wouldn't move for awhile, thought it was dead at first.

Kind of surprised how stable it was there on the bank with your bucket up. I kept thinking you where going to tip and roll into the ditch. I had alittle scare with my 1025 while brush hogging and I had the bucket low to the ground and found a drop that I didn't know about or see and I credit the bucket being low and catching the front of the tractor that kept me from rolling the tractor on its side.
@sogyseal7962

FlyguyXII I had a similar experience on an old 50hp long. Was bush hogging on a steep hill sideways and the lower side front tire dropped in a stump hole I didn't know was there. The back opposite tire came up and scared the "insert explective here" out of me.

+Chase I discussed why I couldn't do that in the video (and in several comments here). I would have simply pushed the edge of the bank back down into the creek. I did not have my backhoe, so no way to pull it back up out of the creek. I would have made a mess that I could not have cleaned up.

Honestly, those tires on Johnny aren't aggressive enough to be in that mud. But great for yards. Have to sacrifice traction for turf saving ability. A box scraper could have been used to flatten the piles before tilling.

Don't tell me you are scared of a little old snake while sitting on a tractor. I have killed so many of them from the seat of a tractor I cannot remember how many. I cut up one big water moccasin with a 5 foot rotary mower. It looked like pieces of balogna coming out from under the mower. I killed a big eastern diamond back that kept striking my rear tire, but he did not know I had a .357 on my belt. He was over 6' long and as big around as my leg and made a good target for my M19 Smith.

@TractorTimewithTim

+bigc1961 I explained this in the video. There was nothing to 'grab' with the front bucket. Any attempt would have simply thrown a big pile of mud back in the creek. I had no backhoe with me to fetch that out...so this was best option. You will see me use bucket to get out many times in other videos, and maybe even at another point in this one.

Please don't kill the snakes I really don't like them either but they do play a very important part of our ecosystem another great video and job by johnny. Tim what is the weight lifting capacity of the front hydraulic system with the bucket or the forks on. IM wondering if it could lift 2 or 3 inch caliper trees their root balls are pretty big and get fairly heavy. Been thinking about getting a skidder for my landscaping company but I like the idea of something like johnny because it wouldn't do near the damage to the turf and others things like the tracks on a sidder will do.

I don't like snakes either -- not one bit, venomous or non-venomous. If I find one on my property, I do everything in my power to eliminate it in every way possible -- kill it or, to paraphrase King James, I will harry it out of my land. Ecosystem or not, I personally could do with a few less cottonmouths and copperheads. By the way, Ireland seems to do just fine without snakes.
