I've been wanting to find a couple old rounds really bad just to run them over the chronograph. When the 264 came out the advertised velocity for the 140 claimed to be 3200+fps, way faster then any modern load

The nosler 130 grain is only 3100 fps

@@badmedicine4352 because of everyone calling the 264 mag a barrel burner all modern companies load them way slower then needed, it’s a shame

@@rex8958 well thank god they make new barrels. That will give you a chance to get rid of that crappy 1 in 9 twist and replace it with a 1 in 8 twist. But i agree you can't have a conversation about the 264 win mag that i don't hear it's a barrel burner. But I'm guessing theirs a lot of others as well. I'm sure the 30/378 weatherby might be and the 6.5/300 weatherby might be a barrel burner but none of these gun writers never hang that label around their neck

If you come across 130 Swift Scirocco try them,and 140 Accubond/ Nosler Partion. For a 6,5 Match bullet, 140 Scenar/ Sierra Match King. The 2 matches is a staple here to see in Scandinavia if a 6,5 will shoot well of not .

That won’t fix how the gun shoots.

The lower rings and bases won’t effect how the gun shoots but it can effect how YOU SHOOT it! I have been hunting for 60+ years and been handloading for about the same I am also a gun collector and have owned hundreds of guns and the closer you can get the scope to the barrel the chances are greater that you will shoot it better🤔😳 I have taken hundreds of different guns hunting and have found this to be true! If you’d target shooting this is not always the case but still might help in most cases too! I have 4 sons and 3 of them hunt and I have had to do this to their guns too over the years and cures a lot of shooting while hunting problems

Ive got a 264wm. 26 inch sporter barrel. My handloaded 140 partitions are killer accurate and great effect on game. Velocity in 3150s consistently. Too bad factories down load this round so poorly.

Buddy I don't know what is going on here but at 100 yards my model 70 pre 64 264 is cutting the same hole with 140 core lokt you may just have a dud with a bad barrel or your scope is not holding a decent zero

I got it shooting 1” groups with nosler portions. I just think it’s a picking barrel and gun. I got soMe Hornady a max to try here soon.

@@ReloadingQuest if you can find them the nosler solid base the predecessor to the ballistic tip they shot very well in it as well hopefully you will find that perfect load my friend
