Please do more like these. Videos where it’s just the host on their own, showing how they handle and approach rivers how most of us do. Thank you for the great video

Private land owners own the bottom of the river in WY - unlike Montana and Idaho. I’ve fished around here and while there is some public access it is very limited. I wouldn’t necessarily travel out of my way to fish here unless you’re seeking Goldens up in the mountains.
@Robbnok
@Robbnok 3 жыл бұрын
I agree, I know the area well. Of course he doesn't even mention the river he's on since it's likely private. The upper Popo Agie is the only public place with fish that size, be prepared to hike though.
@joekaiser3311
@joekaiser3311 2 жыл бұрын
He is fishing in all public areas here, there are plenty of access points along the popo agie forks, and sweet water river. You don't need to go onto private when so much of the state is public.

This week I’m fishing on a budget. I’m going on a DIY adventure. But, the first thing I’m going to do is spend $500 on a guide so he can show me where to go and what to use. Id say odds are pretty good that some private access came along with that guide. My in-laws live in in Lander, so I fish there often. The Pope Agie has good public access up Sinks, but other than that, there isn’t a whole lot of public access and people in Lander aren’t keen to you knocking on doors and allowing permission.

@Skpeep I'm from Lander and I can tell you there is a decent amount of public access along the North Fork, Middle Fork and Little (South Fork) Popo Agie. You just got to put in a little leg work. Stop in at the local fly shops and talk to a few folks. They may be able to give you intel to make your day a lot more fun, but you will have to buy something. ;)

I love this video. But I do have to say fish don’t have hearing. It’s a misconception that could possibly ruin a good day if fishing. They feel vibrations so if you yell at a good hole the fish won’t spook, but u make lots of movement that will make them spook

Yes it can be. Just like lake anglers often do at a lodge, you a hire a guide for one day to help you figure out what to use/how/where and then the rest of the week you do it yourself.

I personally don't have the money to hire a guide even if I wanted to. Sure in some situations if you need a boat and searching large expanses for a difficult species then absolutely a guide is very good to have. But paying $500 or more a day to catch trout in a mountain brook is ludicrous! I couldn't be proud of myself as a fisherman if I have to pay a bunch money to have someone hold my hand to get a stream trout. Figure it out! If you got some basic knowledge on fly fishing, a rod/reel, a box of different flies,split shot and of course tippet you're all set! Just figure it out and dial it in yourself. These lodge tourists lol. You ain't a trout bum unless you slept in the car in January and wade in your jeans barefooted or even using a willow limb as a "tenkara"rod after breaking the tip of your $100 rod

Small stream fishing is a great way to get someone into fly fishing. I taught my friend on our local one and it was easy to teach and understand where the trout will be located, and they can keep you busy all day from pool to pool!

I'm an experienced fly angler and prefer fishing creeks and small- medium freestone rivers over large freestones and tailwaters. I could care less if the fish are smaller on average because to me it's a more about the angling intimacy, the beauty of those little critters & getting away from the crowds and the splash & giggle crew than it is the size of the trout.
