This is my other favorite Chrono tune! The transition from the plucky pluck to the arco is so nice!
@SheaViolin14 күн бұрын
That's my favorite technical term for the plucky pluck part. :) I'm so glad you liked it Annalisa! I think I might be getting close to being able to deliver the album.... only a couple "must haves" are left to record!

That little delay really makes multi-part acoustic compositions sing.
@SheaViolin13 күн бұрын
Delay-as-an-instrument is what I was going for when I was going for here, to try to make it integrate into the composition. I'm glad it worked out! Thanks!
@NickHchaos13 күн бұрын
@@SheaViolin You can definitely do so much with that, especially once you start to use analog equipment. I love tape for that reason--I've owned a few tape delays and tape echoes, and they're basically instruments on their own. Works fantastically well for inputs with low harmonic content, or even just for additional saturation for something complex like strings.
@SheaViolin13 күн бұрын
@NickHchaos on most of the experimental work I've done recently, I've had heavy delay use. :) I should try playing with some analog delays too! Thanks for the ideas!
@NickHchaos13 күн бұрын
@@SheaViolin So far I've never heard a good emulation of tape, no way to mimic it digitally in its nonlinearities.

This turned out so well, love how the crisp the mandolin sounds
@SheaViolin14 күн бұрын
Thanks Trem! I initially had gone back to see if I could just fix the mix on my old arrangement, and ... well. It was from 3 years ago. I think I could maybe rescue a few things from 2 years ago to bring them to up to my standards now, but the first version of this was really imprecise on timing and a very small arrangement. It's amazing looking back and seeing how far things have come!

I really love this cover! You really nailed the dreamy, homey vibe of this track. Oof, I'm sorry production was so difficult this time around, but all that hard work behind the scenes really paid off. Wonderful work as always :)

Yay! I'm glad! I learned a whole bunch of really, really useful skills in the process of producing this one, though, so I feel a lot more confident in my ability to fix a whole class of problems that sometimes show up. Thank you!

This is so lovely! I love all of the texture in the percussion, but it's not overpowering in the mix at all. And of course all of the strings sound beautiful!
@SheaViolin14 күн бұрын
Thanks kmads! I'm trying to do a better job of adding more percussion to my tracks lately, since that's been something that I've typically not had a lot of, and I think it's really been helping make these last few shine!

That took you less than three weeks! I need to make myself some more time to enjoy the games too. It's so hard with young children to find the time for everything, but it's just a season. Thank you so much for coming back to listen again and leave a note! I really appreciate it!
@OokiiPeter13 күн бұрын
@@SheaViolin I can somewhat imagine how tough it would be to manage time with young children. Right now I'm juggling graduate school and work, along with general life activities, and that alone keeps me quite busy. If I still had the free time I did when I was young, I would probably have finished Chrono Trigger in half the time it's taken me now. Still, what a blessing it is to have such things in our lives that keep us busy in a positive way! I'm glad to see that you can still find time for your passion of music.

Perhaps it's thematically fitting that you were sent off course, before ultimately succeeding in your quest? 😅 A rich menagerie of instruments in an amazing arrangement! I can imagine this variation of the theme as the warm, satisfying life the folks in 600AD might enjoy once the war with the Mystics is over.
