Ancient tech is awesome sometimes. Something they used to do in India. In the state of Rajasthan there is a desert and lack of rain. They used to build water tight terrace and attach pipes so that the rain that fell on the terrace can be stored in an underground tank. Then they also build rooms next to this tank which will be cooled...

USA has many areas where that could be applied instead of electric air conditioning. Passive cooling saves a lot of energy for other uses.

Swamp coolers are quite common in arid climates like Arizona and modern models can be bought at any hardware store. Works terribly in Florida or Texas though.

A few houses here in Wilmington NC are designed like this. They were built in the 19th century and are tourist attractions now.

So how does this work in the central Midwest? I've heard these structures do not work in heavy-freeze regions (either).

I could give a big hug to whomever made this video, it's the best I've seen so far on this subject. Plus, I've never seen a modern or US incorporated version of this building idea before. So very cool. Thank You so very much. That made my morning much better.

Moreover, we can construct underground chamber to cool the air coming from the wind catcher and also a water delivery system. It is common in Islamic areas.

we have underground water canals in the city of Marrakech passing under the city neighborhoods from centries ago but unfortunatly no buildings to make air fresh air in houses as in your cities like YAZD a city which is as hot as MARRAKECH .

functional and beautiful, we can only look to the past to see this, modern designers love the ugly and metal unfortunately. Our ancestors were so intelligent in comparison.

Useful in arid, low humidity locations, but will find a way back into more mainstay technology. More of less energy usage is a bonus.

can wind towers be applied on taller multi storied buildings?
@BJCMXY

Definitely... The main issue is how they're built out of materials that can burn at ambient conditions if certain accelerants are involved...and the associated chimney effects would be problematic. That said... There's probably multiple ways they could manage to work around those issues.🤔

The sticks may help to prevent the birds to settle on wind tower and especially to poop on it - at least this is the solution across mediterranean that works very well on towers. ☺

Why after all the other effort would you not check the pronunciation of key words? I assume the one was meant to be "coanda" but you had to have jumbled the letters around to get your garbled version.
