In the 4th episode, I’m exploring the ancient city of Yazd یزد, populated since the period of the Achaemenid Dynasty (550 BC-330 BC) and located right in the middle of Iran.
I’ll visit the Jameh Mosque of Yazd مسجد جامع یزد as well as learning a little about Zoroastrian religion at the Zoroastrians Towers of Silence and the Zoroastrian Fire Temple of Yazd. Zoroastrianism is one of the world's oldest organized faiths and the primary religion of Iran before Islam.
I’ll try Dizi for lunch, the smashed up Iranian stew, followed by some of the best baklava that can be found in Iran at Haj Khalifeh حاج خلیفه علی رهبر وشرکاء.
After lunch it’s off to the beautiful Dowlat Abad Gardens باغ دولت‌آباد, the Fazeli Carpet store with it’s great views of over the old city and the grand Amir Chakamagh امیر چخماق square for sunset.
We’ll go and see a traditional Iranian sport called Zurkhaneh and finish with a classic chicken Joojeh kebab.

PATHS LESS TRAVELED
In the late summer of 2022 I embarked on an epic road trip around Iran, during a time of unrest as protests escalated across the country.
Covering around 6200km over 24 days, I was able to see this incredible country in a way that many are not fortunate enough to see, and to record my experiences in a way that has not been done before.
Safety concerns meant that I had to limit my filming on occasion, and stay well away from any signs of the troubles going on.
However, what I did see was an incredible insight. Some of the most wonderful and welcoming people, incredible history and culture, and mind blowing food.
Paths Less Traveled - Iran is my story of my experiences, put in an in-depth series of Iran travel vlogs.

8:31 although the word Paradise/فردوس/‏פרדס in Latin, Hebrew and Arabic are all of the Persian origin (Pardis) which is the inspiration that the Hebrew bible got from the Gardens of Babylon under Persian rule. The Garden of Eden is supposed to be a Persian paradise in terms of how it looks like.

Omg that tall tower at 8.11 - is that actually tilting sideways or its a camera glitch??
@ChrisKermis
@ChrisKermis Жыл бұрын
It is just the camera. Set on too wide an angle which gives that curve. You see it 8:19 it looking straighter from a different angle. I avoid shooting wide around buildings usually nowadays as I don’t like this kind of distortion

iranian gardens are not based on quran. they represent iranian mythology and its gods such as mithra and anahita
@ChrisKermis
@ChrisKermis Жыл бұрын
I guess there's different interpretations depending on who you speak to and I was told this at the time of visiting. I can see though that since the traditions of these gardens go back to the Achaemenid dynasty there must be more history prior to Islam. It seems that the layout of the gardens increased in importance in the Zoroastrianism times and further with the introduction of Islam.
@Mithroun
@Mithroun Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisKermis not zoroastrians. zoroastrians were just like today rulers of iran. we had pagan times before that and iranians worshiped multiple gods. elements on earth had female gods and this water you keep referring to is a symbol of anahita who is god of water and fertility. and elements in the skies have male gods such as sun and sky and their gods mithra and varuna they also depicted in domes in iranian architecture. also cypress tree in these gardens is an important tree in mithraism which is also depicted in iranian form of arc
