Looks awesome!!!! Love it all folks. Hey Len I have never seen Matt weld. I think it’s time you passed that skill on. He is an expert fiberglass man thru you. He needs to get his hand in welding also. Just my old welders 2 cents. Thank you everyone for taking us along everyday!!

Thanks, Max! I have started a few welds here and there, but definitely need more practice.

Those floors are outstanding. Really finished good. Very similar to a traditional floor seen in many fishing boats, but the modern material should make for a very practical long life floor. I’m doing a deep V aluminum fishing boat and started with cedar and rivnut fasteners but the decking you used is a much better idea. That’s a really tidy boat you’re building, the clever design and attention to details is outstanding.

Gentlemen your boat will be the nicest boat in the harbor when it’s finished! Do any of the other boat owners in the marina stop by and check out your progress?

Your dad is quite the welder. I can think of lots of things I need welded. One more step to the first outing of the EI.

Here in southern New Zealand a lot of the rock lobster boats have weather walls these days. They work in pretty windy conditions at times and I don’t think anyone has had any issues with them, they are getting more common all the time. They make life far better for the crew on those miserable days. They also have verandas to keep the rain off as it rains a lot in fiordland and packing out live lobsters in the rain is a disaster for fish quality.

Any difference with weight on the deck, with that wall only on one side? Or will there be equipment to even that out, on the other side of vessel? Pretty clean welding
@EISAlaska2 ай бұрын
Thanks, gold. With the addition of the processing equipment, we will have a slight port list. But we have ways to correct it to an extent. We’ll see once we get the rest of the deck gear on.

@@EISAlaska awesome information. It wouldn't take much to even it, knowing aluminum isn't heavy, but on a windy day, a stabilizer in the water may be beneficial. Looking great, and cannot wait to be on it with you guys, when you video the events

Most boats have house that goes that far back, these “windage” people are nuts.

I'm sure I missed something but I will ask: Do the deck gaps cause cleaning problems?
@EISAlaska2 ай бұрын
Good question, as long as you keep the deck hosed off it shouldn’t get too grungy.

Less then a full tank. Has "slack" in it.

Hi guys from a sweltering south London, UK - bit worried there Mat about drilling holes into the mast, don't need to increase the prospect of a weak point in the drill hole when the boats a rocking and a rolling! Very appropriate music at 1800.
@EISAlaska2 ай бұрын
No worries! The holes were into a bracket that is mounted to the mast, not actually the mast itself.
