It can work in a pinch, Denim lined Windbreakers work pretty well for an ad hoc rain jacket. I much rather prefer and use 5.11 Duty Rain Shell Jackets, they are completely waterproof and are excellent insulators since they don't breathe at all lol, so sweat mitigation is important, but they're fantastic.

Yah i have true waterproof stuff including the ecwcs goretex but this is more for higher activity in light rain where sweating in a rain jacket could lend to hypothermia but still want light protection and camouflage
