Looking at dream warriors and the refights really makes me realize how much Hollow Knight's design intimidates you into beating yourself on certain fights. Once you've figured fights out there aren't that many actually difficult fights in the game (I hate that phrase because it makes me sound like one of those 'lol, you should just get better' arrogant twats, but it's not untrue.) But a lot of the fights make you think they're a lot harder than they are. Marmu is a good example of it. She moves really fast and seems like a much bigger threat than she is, so the first instinct is to chaotically dash around, desperately swinging and hoping to hit her. Instead, the right play is just to wait and be patient with your swings, but everything about the fight screams that you should be panicking and acting like a lunatic. Same applies to No Eyes. There's a sense of urgency to the fight, a sense of needing to make your way across the arena every time she deigns to make an appearance so that you don't waste a previous opportunity to slap her, when in reality, she's remarkably easy to dodge and usually needs just a single jump or a dash once every ~10 seconds not to get hit. So there's nothing wrong with just being patient and acknowledging that if she's all the way across the arena, you can just wait for her to come to you. There are certainly several actually incredibly difficult fights in the game that will require a lot of movement and meticulous execution, but there's equally as many or more that are just trying to trick you into thinking so. Just because the boss moves fast doesn't mean you have to, and just because the boss does double damage doesn't mean it's suddenly harder to dodge. Also I pride myself on being extremely good at finding various nooks and crannies and secret areas, but I never knew about the breakable ground around 14:00. My life is meaningless.

Honestly, I thought that Soul Tyrant was 10x easier than Failed Champ in my first playthrough, but at the same time, I didn't find out that the dream bosses scale until I had already beaten half of them and fully upgraded my nail, so that could be part of it. Although, I did beat both with a fully upgraded nail so I guess you can decide if it actually mattered or not

So!... dream BOSSES are not the same as dream WARRIORS... failed champ and soul tyrant don't scale their health... I genuinely think soul tyrant is easier.... but failed champ is closer and faster if you understand the fight
