I love the mythology they set up for this series.

For everyone's talk of Windom Earle and their hate for the character, I absolutely loved everything about him. He was quirky while also being creepy and strange and over the top, which is always what Twin Peaks was for me in general. The entire love triangle storyline between him, Cooper, and Caroline could've been done way better, but Windom Earle was the ONLY saving grace for Season 2. He propelled the plot forward into completely uncharted waters and made Twin Peaks why it's so memorable as it is today. Disagree if you'd like, but I'm team Windom 100%, and this scene shows exactly why. Dude is fucking bonkers and I love it.

Agreed, I'm insanely arachnophobic and the idea of having a box of tarantulas being held up above me only by the string gripped by my teeth is a fucking nightmare.

The only part of Season Two I disliked really was James...Windom Earle was a great, entertaining villain and did indeed set up for the finale. I was fine with Annie, even if it made Audrey not relevant to the main plot anymore. Otherwise, I think people hate on Season Two just a bit too much.

ReviewCam Leo cared about Shelly? Really? He was an abusive piece of shit. Even though it was terrible that he was tortured in such horrifying ways, he definitely deserved punishment. I haven't read the final dossier so I don't know what really happened to him, but yeah, fuck Leo.

Scenes like this surely must be part of the inspiration for Remedy Games having televisions in their games showing you optional stuff. (Max Payne, Alan Wake)

So many games took inspiration from Twin Peaks. Just to name one - Silent Hill definitely took it's inspiration from this, with the whole quiet town and condemned girl thing. I know for a fact Twin Peaks was super popular in Japan, where Silent Hill was developed, so that could have been very possible.

@@kamilyakadyr7063 You're right. A myriad of games, and other media, either took inspiration from Twin Peaks or had direct references to TP. Sam Lake (Writer of Max Payne) was a huge Lynch fan made Address Unknown (One of the TV shows in the game) which has the red curtains from the Black Lodge. There's also something the "Flamingo" says along the lines of "Mirrors are more fun than television", being a reference to the doppelgangers in TP and possibly the backwards talking. Kind of a stretch I know lol but yeah there are a ton of TP/Lynch references in videogames. Those are just a few.

Most recently Hotline Miami. Twin Peaks inspired so many forms of media it's almost unbelievable.

@@metroidxme6470 Interesting! I also believe shows like Stranger Things would not exist today if it wasn't for Twin Peaks. It is so obvious that the Duffer brothers borrowed a lot of its narrative and that mystic sci-fi effect from there. Frost and Lynch are geniuses who changed the narrative of media perhaps forever. That show really was a blueprint for so much media and way ahead of it's time.

*Spoilers* As much as I love Agent Cooper as a character, I really didn't like the Caroline/Cooper/Earle triangle. They went out of their way to justify it (Windom Earle was insane! He pushed them together! And so on), but in the end Cooper still cheated on his best friend's wife and he never apologized for it. It doesn't excuse Earle but...I just don't like it.

Lynch has a very creative interpretation of fidelity himself, and you can see it in his work imo.

I know cheating is bad and all, but I'm pretty sure Garland and his wife and Truman and Josie were the only couples to not cheat on eachother (and Josie was doing much worse things than cheating).

I don't think there's much to add and lynch being lynch isn't going to give those concrete answers one may desperately want to see and hear; he wants you to reach those for yourself with what he has so brilliantly presented. I know what happened to coop and it's not a happy ending, but rarely are there in life. Fire walk with me did an amazing job of padding and extending the TP lore, introducing new characters and giving peace to laura's soul which imo was a wonderful way to end the series.

Fire Walk With Me IS a proper finishing movie tho... There is an FAQ on line written by what was left of Mark Frost's team...it tells about Bob and how he's living in Cooper's body. Cooper is trapped inside a red velvet coffin meanwhile...for 25 years?

@LiliScarlett8 FYI: No need for the quotation marks, the capital letter means it is a name/proper noun.

No matter what--don't ever stay at the Wyndom Hotel. Despite the difference in spelling- he does that to trick you- you'll end up staying at the black lodge instead- and you'll regret it. And the great northern- forget it. No telling what Ben Horne has up his sleeve!

@Benttimaki : Sorry, but I was referring to a title, and a title needs quotation marks. I would've put it in italics, but it's not possible on KZbin =) Without the quotation marks, one could think I was talking about the town of Twin Peaks, and not the name of the show. Capital letters = proper noun, but not necessarily a title.
