I used this for the first time to chase a restorer who damaged the rear bumper on my classic car. He was trying to mug me off. I also got the £25.00 back and also £77.00 for issuing a warrant plus my original claim of £500. He thought I was a nice guy (I am btw) and would just roll over. I knew I was in the right and the court agreed. Good post Darren.

I like your video! "Never Haggle" - I rarely allow it to happen, the few times it has, I am the one who ends up paying for it!

Good advice as always, I'm currently in the process of changing my customers to go cardless and getting rid of all them bad payers and problem customers I spend most of my day cleaning windows for people and not getting paid for the work and it winds me up so from now on I'm getting rid of all the crap and re launching with our only method of payment gocardless . Great advice thanks Darren. It inspired me to chase a debt of £110 which I was owed from March. Finally receive payment today though she did call me rude and insulting👍😁💰 I think it was the thought of send you those £10 notes

Bad debt is time lost. Moving to Go Cardless make sense as those reminders no longer take up time. I like to settle any business invoices @BirakIT in 24 hours. Remember people invoice after job completed and that could be a month of work. You wouldn't leave a shop and not pay for the food, so don't do this for other businesses. We have to look after small businesses.

If I haven’t received payment for last month I wont do a second clean. I often think of one of your lines in another video, im in the business of window cleaning not debt collecting

What pisses me off is ! Yeh I will pay online .. Then they don't .. Then lie to me saying yes I did .. Then I show them bank on my phone and catch the out

Hi Darren. Wondered if you could do a video when you got the time on hiring an employee, risks etc. I’m a one man band but recently got to the point of full, getting to point where I’m starting to turn away but thinking of hiring someone but not have enough work for two etc. Just thought it’d be a good video as you seem more professional than I ever would!

Your right take the non payers to court or they will mug the next guy. Today I won a case for $450 the first time in 10 years of being in business.

Hey, I just found your vids...like your style. Used to do windows here in Texas & love this kind of work, but due to personal circumstances moved on to other work. However would go back to it if I could. I rigged up my own ‘water pole’ that worked perfectly & lasted for years. I never saw the one like you have, as that was YEARS ago... I still have lots of ideas, new inventions, in my head... maybe one day will be able to make them. People here are not like people there, must be different culture. Very few get windows done regularly. And the vast majority don’t care about anything else but THE GLASS. Crazy, right! In the area closer to the coast green grows like mad on everything. We also have some kind of spitting tree that one client told me about. There is some little round ball like structure on this tree that spits some gunk onto the glass, then it dries like concrete, tiny brown/black spots that are impossible to remove without a sharp razor. The man told me he watched one day when the thing shot out it’s contents & it landed on the glass & bricks, I’ve never seen it in action, only the results. The houses have so many windows on them that to do a good job like you do takes ALL DAY many of the first times, or close to it. To finish in half a day is wonderful. I think they call these McMansions, & ALL are detached, windows everywhere! Many even have several in the attached garage. It’s probably for this reason that most only do it once, or a few times, because it’s such a big hard job. This combined with the fact that people buy the biggest most expensive house they can get a loan for, then are drowning in debt. There were A LOT of people who were in such huge homes that they never paid on the principal, they only paid interest. These were Drs, Lawyers....until the crash of 08. My friend told me-he was an agent for a loan company. So these rich people could barely afford to eat, paying every cent on the house, & not doing any maintenance. It’s a DIFFERENT WORLD! Of course it is possible to find work cleaning windows, but it’s very different from where you are. So, thank you Oh So Much for sharing...now I know what it’s like there

Hi Darren, Just had a customer try get away with not paying me. It's a £25 first clean. Just wondering what happens if I go to the small claims court and they deny that they agreed to have their windows cleaned. The only proof I have is that I wrote their name and phone number in my pad. Do you think I would win at court? I don't even know if the phone number is valid, they have never responded to a text.

I'd be thoroughly ashamed if I didn't pay a guy for his work. I have a terrible memory and I've forgot a few times, but even if the person did a bad job I'd still pay...i just would not hire them again. Some people! Imagine going to court over refusal to pay $20....or $100 for that matter - Even when the food and service is bad at a restaurant, and it's so bad I feel it's necessary to complain - I always pay first and then complain, because I don't want them thinking I'm after a free dinner. And I mainly complain only if I feel it will help them fix the problem - If I feel they will just continue the bad food/service I don't bother say anything.

We all have that forgetful tendency, but after the third reminder.............
