Great vid. My window is currently stuck in the "up" position and I was wondering how I was going to get it down. Found the answer here: chop up the old regulator. Thanks!

How do you determine if it is the regulator or the motor that needs replacing?

General "best practice" in automotive: if the car is over 8-10yrs old or has more than 100-130k miles, go ahead and do both. Lots of applications you can't easy separate the motor assembly from the regulator (they are riveted on half the time), so it makes the most sense to replace them both together to save time and have full warranty on everything. A bad regulator will often have a cable snap or a broken plastic window mount clip, and you can feel the window pane loose in the door. A bad motor will struggle to go up or down, or stop altogether. This is why having a good mechanic perform a proper diagnostic is key.

@@TheTexican05 Thank you for the reply. With the help of a friend knowledgeable with electronics, we determined that it was the console switch - a $20 part I found online.

Great video. What size bolts did you use after you grinded out the rivets? Thanks!
