how much space do i need for the external disc? by formatting disc u seriously mean i will lose all the data i have on the drive? do i need an empty hard usb drive?
@Windows10NinjaWorld7 жыл бұрын
For the USB stick for the boot process - about a 4+GB USB stick - those tiny usb memory sticks!!! You do not need an external USB drive - just a $10 8GB usb memory stick should do - Windows takes about 4-5GB.

can I just clear permissions from outside of windows? I don't want to delete the files just fix permissions that are not working within Windows.

Then look at my reset permission video.

@Windows10NinjaWorld4 жыл бұрын
Then your service is deleted - just continue with the video, reinstall the service and get a clean registry file from another computer.

This still isn't working for me - every time I follow up to just after I click replace owner and then I get a bunch of error messages saying access denied. Any help would be much appreciated!
@Windows10NinjaWorld7 жыл бұрын
Have you tried the other option to do it from booting using the Windows DVD/USB?
@tomslatter51207 жыл бұрын
My laptop didn't come with either so I ended up wiping it as I needed it for work the next day and that seemed to fix the issue. Thanks for your advice though, I do appreciate it

You have a great set of tutorials but I still have one issue not solved. I have a win 10 drive that I use to work on my other drives from. Today I am trying to restore from tape my ,program files folder. I did do the change of ownership but common files still gives my tapa backup an access denied. Is there a way for my backup program to replace the files it needs in prog folder?
@Windows10NinjaWorld4 жыл бұрын
Have you tried running your backup program as administrator?
@Rudyworld4 жыл бұрын
@@Windows10NinjaWorld yes, because if I don't it will not access the tape drive where the files are. If you can figure this out for me you are truly worthy of your title Windows Ninja.
@Rudyworld4 жыл бұрын
I can provide more detail. The biggest note here is that I am not restoring files on the running windows machine but Windows that is on the second drive.
@Windows10NinjaWorld4 жыл бұрын
@@Rudyworld It is your program folder - that is going to be a problem whilst Windows is running. Boot up using either a Ubuntu usb or Windows usb and then writing over that folder will not be a problem. You could use either the cmd prompt in Windows or in Ubuntu the GUI.
@Windows10NinjaWorld4 жыл бұрын
@@Rudyworld that folder and much of the contents is owned by Trusted Installer. If it is not on the running Windows then you could try to rename/delete (as renaming could be complicated) it and then do a normal restore from backup. I would not suggest changing owner/permissions as many folders/files inside it may have various owners and resetting will be hard and could cause that Windows to not function properly. However doing the above is at your risk.

the "My Games" file keeps reverting back to readonly. Ive given full permission to every user, unchecked readonly, etc etc. would this work for a readonly document that keeps reverting?

the program is probably doing it!

how can i change files permission in oneshot (files morethan 2000+) help me to change access permission or suggest any softwares to change esy
@Windows10NinjaWorld3 жыл бұрын
Use cmd as administrator and then use: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/cacls Or move all the files into 1 directory (subdirectories are OK) and then follow the video.
