Mine was working great up until a couple months ago. Then the option to "deletecafter import" disappeared and the layout was slightly different... Now the whole thing just freezes and crashes when I click a photo checkbox to upload, and I don't know why. I was hoping to find some answers, as now I can't import my photos anymore from my dslr.

You could try repairing the app, to do this Right click on the Photos App, then go to More, left click App Settings then click Repair. Clicking Repair should not delete any Photos, but please backup your important files to be on the safe side.

When you imported the pictures the files had descriptive names like Tulips and Jellyfish. Did you go into your camera and change the file names before importing them? When I take photos the photo file names in my camera are like SAM_3234.jpg, SAM_3235.jpg, etc.

These were imported from a USB stick rather than a camera and I had renamed them before importing them, unfortunately I don't think you can rename the photos on a camera, you need to rename after you have imported them on to your computer.

I have a problem with my imports now it used to go into dated folders but now it doesn't anymore I cant find any videos on youtube that have the same problem as me. I have a 2.7 TFT 18 mega pixel camera that I guess is outdated and not compatible with Windows 10. Is there any kind of driver I can download to get it up to snuff? Also, if I cannot, what kind off cable/device would I need to transfer the photos already stored in/on my camera's flash drive to my laptop? Thank you. In your video your photos said new photos, how do you get old photos on your phone to show up with the option to import them?

Yes it now just imports them to your Pictures folder or gives you the option to select a folder of your choice. Not sure why they removed the option to save to folder by date.

I am hoping you could help me out, I am using a Windows 7 Dell laptop and a VIVITAR ViviCam S126 camera. I tried using the USB cord but that did not work several times. Nothing popped up except the letters MSDC on my camera screen and my computer would beep at me. I also tried taking the card out of the camera and putting it in the computer, nothing happened at all! Karen Huff Open Computer or File Explorer from the start menu then plug you camera in and see if anything appears after plugging your camera in, if something appears double click on it then double click the yellow folders till you see your photos

Think you need to either use ITunes or ICloud or upload the photos to Google Photos using the Google photos backup program for Windows then download the Google photos app to your iPhone.

It doesn't find my LG phone. All it finds is my backup drive. edit: It seems some cables are only meant for charging, & won't see you phone in explorer. After using a different cable, Windows 10 finds my LG phone as soon as I plug it in.

If you shift key is not working then you will need to do the pictures one by one, probably best to get the shift key fixed

If you are importing numerous photos (say 500) how do you keep them in the order they were taken? I just imported over 1000 photos and they are all mixed up, I need them in the order they were taken. Thanks!

Yes you need to use the sort function in Windows to sort by Date Taken, go to the Folder containing the Photos you want to sort then, click View, click Sort By, click Choose Columns, tick the box next to Date Taken, click OK then click View (again), click Sort By then Click Date Taken, your photos will be sorted by Date Taken (if your camera date/time is correct) you may need to do this for each folder you put your photos in.

@@cwtek1 It (Photos) no longer will delete images from every camera I own. It used to allow me to check a box to delete images after they are imported. It used to but suddenly it no longer has a box to check. My Olympus camera has internal memory but my others have a SD card. Fortunately I can use my Photos Gallery that will delete images after they are imported.

Wait a moment, that 2nd time you went into the photos app to import the single Kaola picture (which you left out the 1st time you imported) still says it found 8 new items. That's not good, you've already imported 7 of the pictures on the 1st import. Why is it bad? Well imagine if I have a thousand old pictures (1000) in my phone. I take 50 new photos. Is it going to show me 1050 new pictures? After an import, I expect it not to have any NEW items; otherwise, if i do not delete the photos after an import it will stay on my phone. Each time I hook up the phone to do an import in the future should only find NEW photos! I don't want to have to deselect all the old photos first...there could be 100s or 1000s of old photos left in the phone.

before you plug your phone in make sure its at the main screen (ie unlocked) and when you plug the usb in, a message should appear at the top of the phone screen about the usb mode, swipe down from the top of the screen and select PTP connection, then see if you can download the images. If this doesnt work unplug the phone from the computer then plug it back in again a message should appear at the top of the phone screen about the usb mode, swipe down from the top of the screen and select MTP connection and try downloading your pictures again.

I would like to import several pictures into multiple folders this imports them all into one folder creating more work to separate them. In windows 7 would could select the individual photos and place them into the folder of your choice...WINDOWS 10 SUCKS!!!!!

You need to untick all the photos apart from the ones you want to put in a certain folder, then repeat the steps again unticking all but the pictures you want to put in the next folder repeat this again until you have transferred the all the pictures. Or else import all photos to a temporary folder then move them out to the folders you want. Hope this helps.

Problem is is that I can't open the folders in Windows 7 and Windows 8 you had on the left hand side a list of all the folders all you had to do was click on the pictures from 12 let's say 40 and put in a folder now you can't do that you have to cut themand paste... it's twice as much work and very frustrating then you have to delete the empty folder that you cut them out of the ridiculous how they did this
