I really wish I could convince you to run Linux. I suggest running it as a daily driver on a secondary newer system for at least a year really learn it. There are plenty of help forums and channels out there if you need assistance. I am a Linux enthusiast, been using it at some level from 2006, and full time since 2015. It's not as hard as people think, you just need the desire to do this. There are plenty of content creators who can do everything most Windows users can do. Windows system isn't terrible, it's Microsoft's business model that sucks.

The end of life (EOL) date for Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 is January 13, 2032. Just an FYI for those with the knowledge :)

When Windows 10 support ends, I will be completely unaffected on my personal machines. I run Windows XP on every single PC that I own, and have never had a single issue. I plan on continuing to do so until it is nolonger able to do what I need, at which point I will update to Windows 7 and then eventually (reluctantly) move on to Linux. The NEWEST computer I own (aside from 1 micro OptiPlex used as a TV box) is from 2010, and will not at this point run the latest release of Windows 11 even if I wanted it to. Most of my other machines are from the Pentium 4 era, so that applies to them as well. The way I see it, I am not going to jump through hoops to run an operating system that I have no desire to use, and Microsoft doesn't want me to use at all; so I just won't do it and will keep on trucking as before. Now on the business side of things, I have been slowly getting out of computers for the past few years because I do not like the way computers are going these days, and it has killed all interest in them that I have. I do still have 2 small businesses that I do the computer work for, as well as refurbishing retired surplus computers for a friend who resells them. At this point, all 3 of those are still using Windows 10. I am not sure what the 2 businesses plan on doing as far upgrading or not, and that is not up for me to decide. For refurbishing the PCs, I will not send a hacked machine out for sale, so that will come to an end. I would like to be completely out of working on computers as a source of income before this time next year either way.

I use all 3 of the major operating systems. Windows 7 is the main Windows I use, and it's pretty much fully up-to-date with security patches using 0Patch. I have 10 installed on my Mac Pro trash can if I need it for anything, which I rarely do, since I don't play many modern games. I use MacOS and Linux Mint for all my financial and business stuff. I'm not worried at all about Windows 10 going out of support. It will be supported for a long time (years) by web browser makers and others, and 0patch will be security patching it for years to come.

Ah yes the good old Mac Trash. I'll never forget the first time I had seen one. Could easily be mistaken for a garbage can!

It’s a combination of sticking with 10, bypassing , and switching to Linux for me I refuse to upgrade and spend money for an os with the same capabilities

i currently use Mac OS Sequoia and Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC so i plan to stick with those two, IOT LTSC ends support in 2031.

My computer is running Windows 10 on an Intel Core I5 1151 7th Gen. From what I heard it does not run Windows 11. If I can’t use Windows 10 within that time period, My plan is to upgrade to an Intel I5 12600K CPU to run windows 11 for this reason.
@CubeComputerChannelАй бұрын
I'd just bypass the requirements for that system. I would if it's my own system, and the only reason I'd be replacing the CPU is just to officially support Windows 11.

Ive installed win 11 on lesser pcs in the past and all still work fine.

I've already switched to Linux, I no longer have the need to be on Windows anymore. Also Linux feels more responsive compared to Windows 10/11.
@WehiremonkeysАй бұрын
What will likely happen is Windows 10 will be supported but not by Microsoft. By which I mean we'll have a repeat of the 7 era where people are still using XP as software is still being made for it.

Been thinking about it and not a fan of the forced upgrade to windows 11 which still has issues.

I’ve installed Windows 11 24H2 on a laptop from 2011 with an i3 370M and 8GB RAM, the major issue I’ve been experiencing is the file explorer glitching out like sometimes I cannot see the path/tab bar and action buttons. I don’t know if this is as a result of not meeting the requirements…

Most of the machines I have are just over the age limit that they are not up to Win11 install specs. I'll probably stick with Windows 10. I have been playing around with Linux Mint, which has a very nice interface and meets most of my needs. The company that I work for in IT, they are getting ready to migrate to Win11. They have been testing applications they use, they are in the healthcare industry. The machines they have in use are within 3 or 4 years old, they lease the machines (3 year lease).
@warthunder1969Ай бұрын
I migrated to Linux. Windows 11 just isn't worth it for me and I've managed to get linux to do what I need. I know its not in the cards for everyone but for those that can, I would suggest. If you're technically savy enough to hack around Windows 11's system requirements then that is an option for now until Microsoft goes completely off the deep end.
@leerobinson8709Ай бұрын
For me, the problem with running W11 on "unsupported" hardware is that they could change the requirements from feature update to feature update, hence with the SSE4.2 requirement. So while "unsupported" hardware might run today, there are no guarantees that your hardware will run the next feature update, presumably 25H2 or whatever. Maybe, they'll demand AVX or AVX2 for example, thus relegating Sandy Bridge era PC's. It is not a chance i'd be willing to take, especially if my business relies on it.
@CubeComputerChannelАй бұрын
At this point, it would be better to run Windows 11 24H2 on systems that will run it vs Windows 10 on the same hardware as it will receive updates longer than Windows 10. Windows 10 support ends in late 2025, whereas support for Windows 11 24H2 should end sometime in 2027. And should Microsoft increase the requirements for a future feature build, then that hardware will still continue to work on the currently installed build. In fact, after Windows 10 support ends, software vendors could also begin ending support for their programs on Windows 10... however they will continue to support them on Windows 11 - and a lot of software out there doesn't seem to require a specific feature build of Windows 11, just as long as it's Windows 11.

Getting Windows 10 Entreprise LTSC 2021 is a good alternative as its support ends on January 2027, and it's not as bloated as the consumer version. There's also Windows 10 Entreprise LTSC 2021 IoT 21H2 that ends in 2032 but it's not readily available to say the least. By that time most web browsers & hardware manufacturers won't support Win 10 I think but it'll probably be possible to install Win 11 software (& drivers btw) with some trickery

i am on windows 11 23h2 so i am safe but i when my study will finish try to swirch to linux to protect myself from recall (24h2) !
@CubeComputerChannelАй бұрын
Recall shouldn't be active unless your computer meets the requirements for Recall, by being a Copilot+ PC
@jeffhaleboppАй бұрын
Yes. Recall. MS and the 3 letter agencies are just rubbing their hands together because of the hidden client side scanning they are building into the OS. Every file will be scanned by AI, identified, and any questionable content will be reported by the AI itself to the agencies. This way there is no liability to MS since the AI is doing the spying. It's just like all Apple products now. I will never run any machine with hidden AI.

who cares about windows 10 ending support? extended support exists and im sure someone will find a way to hack windows to allow you to update to the paid security updates even past EOL

iam gonna mod win10 to game as long as i can and iam already running zorin linux as my daily driver.. after that who knows but iam done with windows forever

I will probably stay on win 10 till the end. From there im hoping win 12 will be made for the user again and not for looks. Ive got a 12th gen intel and i still do not want win 11 on it. Ive had it on there for 3 months and i was not at all happy with it. Hoping for some registry hacks to get the updates for free.

I think if people benefit from AI apps and don't mind extra monthly fees windows 11 is good for them. The real question is do people really need windows? Chrome and edge browsers work perfect on linux mint. I'm just so sick of the constant drama Microsoft puts on the public. For me mint has been care free, windows can keep their drama.
