Thank you for this video. It made me realize what I need to upgrade (for my case, it's to add another ram) since my memory is always on the verge of exploding haha where the task manager always shown 85% memory used out of 4gb DDR4 memory. Sometimes, might even reach to 90++ percent which is insane XD

Commited is 8.5gb of 17.8 gb but the total Ram is only 16gb. Please Explain.

I'm pretty sure it suggests your disk pagefile might be 17,8 -16 = 1,8 GB in system managed size and might do well by getting bumped up to, say, match the 16 GB of the sticks themselves if you can spare some space on your system disk, or on a comparably fast supplementary disk. I'm assuming "committed" means "in active use" when combining pagefile and sticks, but the reason I'm here is I'm trying to find out for sure, unsuccessfully for now.

The extra ram is from the virtual ram witch is hard drave space that is used as ram

The real question is why 10gb RAM in use, but processes holds max ~3gb ram, where is the rest 7gb, and how to define which processes use this hidden from task manager part of RAM.

Could you show us how to view the memory used for the last minute or two etc. And perhaps put in lower tray for monitoring? I have 115 MB reserved for hardware, is ok in general? And can oit be bumped up some if need be? Thanks

i go to the process tab and add up all the memory usage, why does the performance tab not represent that. instead it is 5X ?

I get the same thing, I have up to about 8 GB in hidden use on my 32 GB system. But the CPU load is accounted for by visible legit processes. I'm assuming Windows is taking a good chunk of the 8 GB, the rest IDK about.

the important number is upper right...should show 16 GB ..on the left is what the computer uses, this changes all the time, nothing to fix

What's the committed component? And why is the lower number greater than the total Memory (Physical RAM size)?

now that ive seen someone elses comment it sounds like you are referring to your VRAM. Your graphics card has its own RAM, so the "commited" would show the amount you totally have, which would include the VRAM and the normal RAM. (vram is the ram inside your graphics card)

if you are using your computer for work you may use this amount of ram but if its not i doubt either someone would use this amount of ram

on slot use mine is 2 of 4 why is that can't see extra ram slot

For clarity, "slot" only means a hardware lane on the PC, ready to connect with additional hardware. Do you actually have all 4 slots populated by RAM modules, and expecting all 4 to be read by the system? It's fine to only use 2 of 4 slots, as long as the RAM size is sufficient. Or do you mean you're looking for 4 alleged physical hardware slots on the motherboard and only finding 2? That would be harder to answer for.

Screw committed memory... the most idiotic thing Microsoft did, when it comes to RAM. Imagine having 8GB of RAM showing that is free... but committed memory is full, so you lose all data and the program shut down. I never had any issues with Vista but Windows 10 has been acting weird for so many years.

that sounds like a failure of BIOS to recognize all RAM modules. Either a RAM module error, or just as common or more, a compatibility issue due to speed or timing settings that can usually be altered in BIOS. Also check you've installed a 64-bit Windows and not a 32/86 version.

Windows will commit live memory to disk if it needs more RAM than your sticks themselves provide. A high share of memory deferred to disk means a slower PC, especially on a non-ssd system.
