No, it is critical for security going forward with the push towards client-side small language model and AI inferencing on user machine. Thats is why. And on another note, nothing inherently wrong with BitLocker on by default in my book. Most people are backing up data in cloud already, either with OneDrive or Google. Technology is changing and there is nothing wrong with staying on Windows 10 until your next hardware upgrade. Don't hamstring others that are on a more paid hardware upgrade cycle. Most of us want the features that are only available on Windows 11 running on Microsoft's minimum equipment specs.

AI is NOT the way forward. It started with teh Gaming community and their demands for higher; and frankly, ludicrous wants in tech improvements to fit thgeir needs. That brought about higher prices; more requirements and the need to drain more power from the Energy provision system. Now AI' with its need for massive server banks running 24/7 365 generating vast amounts of heat to be dissipated; a larger drain on the Power grid..> See how Environmentally unfriendly that is... No Microsoft have again shot themselves in the foot with this one; and have made total rubbish of their "Green Credentials". All these Technology companies need to stop and give back power and control to their users. They have no right to control what you can and cannot do with YOUR equipment; you bought it it's yours. Apple have gotten away with this since they began. And people are willing to let them. It may not even be from the low end side of the Consumer market that the fight back comes. it could be from the Business sector. All the upgrades to equipment; changed need to support said etc all cost. So we may well see the first Class action suits coming from that direction.

Bro, I totally disagree. There's an awful lot of us gamers who built our own $4k-6k machines from the ground up, who have non-TPM procs, but screamers, that would run circles around any SGI machine (exaggeration of course for those of you who know what a Silicon Graphics machine is) within the last 3-4 years. I dont want to spend a pretty penny on a Win11-TPM-supported chipset and all supported hardware for simply being compatible with Win11. I'll run Win10 for another 5 years if I need to. Just sayin'

They have to make decisions every day of when to drop support for edge cases (like an AMD market needs assessment mistake.) It's not just AMD, there are some fairly recent Intel processors that are not supported that are about 6 years old as well. I would say that Win 10 security updates stopping in Oct 2025 is kind of not cool, but I am going to predict that this date will be extended, depending of course on what the number of Win 10 systems are still in use in October next year. I'm not a big AMD guy, but can't you get a fairly cheap processor off of eBay or even a new that would make your system Win 11 compliant (without changing the motherboard?)

This is about control. It's a long road to where Microsoft is leading this, but the destination, will be far worse than the journey. Bitlocker, will trap so many clueless users under Microsoft's control, should Microsoft decide to be as nefarious as they've always been. Your drive(s) will be lockable remotely, should they ever care to do so. As I said. The road is very long to get there, but this isn't going to end well, for people who stay onboard with Windows and TPM. TPM being mandatory, isn't for your security, or mine. It's for theirs.

While most computers have a TPM 2.0 chip nowadays, whether or not it's activated and working properly is another story. That aside, even if you assume most computers have it enabled and working correctly, I get the feeling that isn't the true issue that's ruffling feathers. It's the fact that Microsoft is making decisions for you that's not sitting well with folks. A power battle between the technical community and a company with a monopoly on the OS market for PCs and laptops. All I can say is, if you don't like it, do something about it. If your tech savvy enough to understand what is going on here and you don't like Microsoft's direction, then put your skills to use and do something about it. Microsoft is not going to stop. You're not going to see government step in either. If you are truly bothered by this decision (and there's many others to choose from that can be disturbing), then rise up and do something about it. I don't care if that means using Linux, MacOS, FreeBSD, and adopting it to take over, or building something new from scratch that can work where the others have failed. If you're in the know and have the skills to do something about it, then do it already.

Running unsupported is always a risk. Folks who bypass compatibility checks should know that they are taking a risk that their system may not work when they wake up one morning. Microsoft are taking a hard line because if they don't people will simply stay on WIndows 10 forever. It will be interesting to see if they backtrack when windows 10 systems become a huge botnet for hackers. Folks won't upgrade and we'll see how many that is come Oct 2025. I guess it will be over 50% of Windows PC's; which will be a disaster. I don't see how Microsoft will be able to continue to insist on TPM 2.0 much beyond Oct 2025. They are taking a hard line, but will fail IMHO.

Agreed they will push the support window, but they won't drop Win 11 core hardware minimum. IOW they will support Windows 10 for longer, but they won't let you run Win 11 without TPM 2.0. That would break their security model that they need to push client-side AI in the future. I get a kick out of the notion that Microsoft stumbled into their market dominant position by accident.

OK, this is the double comment. I’ll try not to repeat anything. I said last night on a similar related video. First of all, I will share something that someone said on Facebook. Corporate read some of these corporations. It’s worse than Mr. Krabs. If you know who that is, secondly, I have several machines only one machine I have does not have TPM too, but that is a legacy machine. All the rest of my machines do you have a TP M chip in them now, it is true that my legacy machine is from 2009. So I don’t know how much longer that machine’s gonna last anyway. So we’ll just have to see. Now the rest of my machines do have TPM too, so does that mean that I’ll be able to run windows unsupported with TPM? That’s what we’re gonna see. Now as far as Blocker is concerned Well, if it doesn’t go hand-in-hand, what if I don’t want to use Blocker. So for Microsoft to be pushing this, again, makes me wonder, if writing to our congressman in the United States or taking similar actions in other countries, to try to stop Microsoft from being allowed to do what they want in entering that customers there needs to be some kind of legislation that will put a stop to this insanity. Maybe something like what we saw in the European union with the USB-C maybe we could have something in America and the European Union, which prevents Microsoft from being able to push things and shut people out for many different reasons I could see many laws that could be an effect that Microsoft would be breaking for this. Environmental laws, Other possible regulations, but I don’t know what those would be. But just saying. That this is what lawmakers need to do. Especially for the vulnerable population who would like to use computers. The other thing I would like to see is people a lot of people probably have machines that have TPM two on them, but they are not turned on by default for some reason on some older machines so maybe, it would be a good idea for a tutorial on how to do it. Yes, I recognize it bio slightly different but the general idea of how it would be done. Now somebody said that this would take affect in windows 25 H2. But here’s an idea here’s a hint or maybe a question that you might want to answer. What if this canary thing may be beginning to have Windows 12 features what if this is Windows 12 beginning to possibly be released in 2025. So maybe Windows 12 would require the TPM chips. So what about that? I’d be curious to know about that Windows 11 would be, probably released maybe in 2026 2025 alongside a new windows 11 I don’t know. But I wonder if something is brewing. Then windows 11 would be supported till probably 2030 or 2032 so that’s something to consider. Again this is all speculation. I understand that there’s gonna be more bit luck usage in windows 11 yes but we’re gonna find out aren’t we ha ha. And the final thing I just want to say is, by then, they’ll be more people using newer machines, cause a lot of these older machines might be gone by then. I mean, my legacy machine is still going, but I don’t know how much longer it’s gonna last it could last two more years. It could last 10 more years so by then it may not matter. But I still think Microsoft needs a bit of a talking to and some serious lectures from customers and lawmakers on how to be a better company. OK, thank you very much for this video and I appreciate all the work that you’ve done and look forward to hearing more updates on this in the future and I’m sure I’ll have comments on this when we see what happens later this year. Take care all.

@@Key-Premise Except super computers, the vast majority of Internet servers, IOT devices, networking equipment, developers moving their applications from being a Windows app to something that run in a web browser, China, the German government, hackers, and millions of people in the tech community who are fed up with Microsoft's direction for Windows and have decided to go their own way. Linux IS used for work a LOT. It's just not as often seen on PCs and laptops, but just because it's rare to see a work PC or laptop running Linux, it does not mean it's not used for work. As the governments in Europe and Asia keep working towards removing their reliance on western companies (this includes Microsoft), they will keep pushing forward with developing their systems. Linux has proven itself in every area except for traditional PC and laptops. However, that is slowly changing and Microsoft is actually creating the need to keep trying to break out of Windows with their "less than popular" decisions. This one decision won't make Linux the number one OS of choice of all time, far from it, but it will still push at least some people with the will and technical skills to act.

There is a non trivial way to get around all this nonsense, but requires a bit of skill. There is a piece of software called NTLite that will allow you to edit a Windows 11 iso and disable/remove all these restrictions plus whatever else you’d like to do, then save the newly edited iso for you to use as the installation media. However, NT Lite takes a bit of effort to learn how to use, plus you must pay a small amount of money for it. But I know from experience that it indeed does work.
