See: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5XcgZKYfbiIoqc Microsoft is trying to force everyone into tying their Windows computer to a Microsoft account but many people don't want to be so easily identifiable. Others don't want all of their files (Desktop, Documents, Pictures, etc.) to get automatically sent to Microsoft's OneDrive cloud either. Have a great day! Jason

Thanks for your comment! Yes, I wish KZbin gave us the ability to ADD information to a video that already been published. The newer Dell PCs often act as you described and you can try disabling RAID in the BIOS or you can download/extract the Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) drivers from the Dell website onto the flash drive and then click the "Load driver" button when you reach the "Where do you want to install Windows" part of the Windows installation. I can't believe that Microsoft has not included the Intel RST drivers as part of the Windows Media Creation utility. Have a great day -- Jason :)

@JasonBagnell6 ай бұрын
Hi! 1) When the Windows Installation Media Flash drive is created, the Flash drive will be completely erased and overwritten. You can copy your data files onto the flash drive AFTER the Windows 11 installation media has been created. 2) What I'm writing below assumes that your old SSD drive known as "Drive 0" and it still has your old copy of Windows running on it. If I understand correctly, you're adding a second new SSD drive into an empty drive bay on your laptop. The new SSD will be known as "Drive 1". Removing the original drive would prevent any confusion during the installation of the new version of Windows but it is not necessary if you are careful. If you leave both drives connected during the installation, make sure that you select the correct drive for the new copy of Windows to get installed onto. In this example, it would be Drive 1 (the new SSD). You'll then need to edit the Boot Order in your PC's BIOS/UEFI and set the primary Boot Device to be Drive 1 (the new SSD). You might need to identify the new drive by it's brand name or capacity while you're in the BIOS/UEFI setup program. 3) Because they laptop will have 2 hard drives installed in it, you'll want to be very careful to make sure that Windows gets installed onto the new blank SSD drive (Drive 1, using the example listed above). You can delete all of the partitions (if any) on Drive 1, then click to select Drive 1 (Unallocated Space) and then click the Next button. Windows will create any partitions that it needs for the new Windows installation on Drive 1 and the Windows setup process will continue forward. You can create the partition yourself but it would be easier to just let the Windows Setup program do it for you. 4) In some cases, you might want to download the drivers for your network adapter and for the hard drive controller. Sometimes the Windows 10/11 setup program is not able to access those devices and it requires that you click the "Load driver" button to add the unknown drivers to the system. The drivers can be downloaded, extracted and saved onto the USB flash drive AFTER the Windows Installation Media has been created. I've found that the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers are often required for the Windows Setup program to recognize the hard disk controller on the newer computers. I hope this gave you the answers you're looking for! Make backup copies of anything that is important just in case something goes wrong during the process. -- Have a great day and I wish you the best of luck with your upgrade. -- Jason :)

Hi! You're a very helpful person to be said. Very detailed guide and understandable for beginners. I have 2 questions for you. What do you think about custom gaming os's? and Also What you think about asus armory crate (or similar apps)? Thanks
@JasonBagnell2 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment! I haven't allowed myself to enter the realm of PC gaming because in the early 90's I had 2 week of college at UF fly by where I missed class and all I wanted to do was stay in my dorm room playing Doom and Castle Wolfenstein on my PC with a big TV and Stereo -- LOL! (That makes me old, I know...) I had to swear off playing video games from then on but I have built some powerful game-ready custom PCs for friends and clients. I wasn't aware that there are gaming OS's other than Mac, Windows and Linux. I think most games run on an app inside the OS (Windows. MacOS, Linux), like Steam, etc. It would be an advantage if there was a bootable OS that was designed specifically for gaming. What is the name of one of them so I can look into it? As for Armory Crate -- My main PC is an Intel i9-14900K running on an "Asus ROG Strix Z790-A Gaming WiFi II" motherboard with 64GB RAM. I was just using Armory Crate yesterday to update the PC's drivers and also adjust fan speeds. I like how Asus made the app include just about everything you need for tweaking and tuning your PC. Fan speeds, AI Overclocking, LED/RGB controls, etc. It also allows you to create custom profiles that can be accessed at the click of a button, like gaming, daily use settings, extreme performance, etc. That is, however, as far as my knowledge of the gaming world goes. I've always believed in paying a few extra $ to get the best hardware, if you can afford it. I love my i9-14900K and my nVidia RTX 3090. I use all of that power to create/edit/export videos but my machine would make a killer gaming computer. Intel just releases their Core Ultra processors and some them are even faster! Let me know if you ever have any questions and I'll see if I can get you an answer. Thanks! -- Jason :)

Hello sir, i have a question. I had to disable VMD controller (or raid) from my bios in order to find the drivers during installation process, Now after finishing the installation and everything thing, should i go back and enable VMD controller? Or that can affect the windows and i should just keep it disabled?
@JasonBagnell7 ай бұрын
Hi! You can try re-enabling the VMD controller and the see if Windows will boot up. Write down exactly what you changed so you can revert everything back if it does not work. It shouldn't hurt anything for you to try. Before you make the change, pull up the Windows Updates screen and make sure that all pending updates have been installed. Next, in Windows Updates, click on "Advanced Options", then "Optional Updates" and install any updates that appear to be related to your motherboard, chipset, hard drive, storage controller, etc. Once that is done, you will have a better chance of the PC booting with VMD mode enabled. I may be a little slow when it comes to this but I wanted to ask. I am currently using windows on my pc but am running extremely low on space because of my old ssd I’m using. I was told that it would be more beneficial for me to do clean install of windows instead of moving it to a new drive. If I already have windows on my pc and I don’t care about what’s on that drive. Will this entire process work perfectly fine? Can I just put the windows from the usb onto my new ssd and install it?
@JasonBagnellАй бұрын
Hi! You can use the instructions in this video to erase all of the data off of your drive and reinstall a clean copy of Windows. If your PC has a small hard drive, it would be a great time to upgrade to something bigger, like a 1TB Samsung SSD. Then install Windows once you've switched out the drive. The Windows 11 usually goes smoothly but you might need to download some additional hardware drivers once Windows has finished installing. Some newer PCs also have an issue where you boot from the Windows 11 USB flash drive and it won't recognize your hard drive controller, which forces you to search through the manufacturer's website to find/download the driver files that are required to continue the installation at that point. There is, however, another way you can try that would be much easier. You mentioned that you are extremely low on disk space and don't care about keeping the data on the drive. See if running the "Reset this PC" program will work on your space-limited PC. I made a video about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIiVp2aDlN15jLs Select the "Remove everything" option and DO NOT use the "Clean data: Yes" option because you are not giving your PC to someone else, so there's no need. Also, make sure to perform a "Local reinstall" so it won't need to download the latest copy of Windows, which would probably fill up your hard drive during the procedure. Let me know what ends up happening. You'll be back to a well-running PC soon. Cheers! -- Jason :)

what about an unsupported cpu??? will there be any problem???
@JasonBagnell8 күн бұрын
Hi! There are methods that allow Windows 11 to be installed on unsupported hardware but I advise against doing so because Microsoft could come out with a new release or update to Windows 11 that will prohibit non-compliant PCs from being able to install the new version. Meaning, they might not allow the "work-around" to be used anymore in the future. You can do it, but be aware that you might get stuck sometime in the future. Thanks -- Jason :)

Thanks for the video. Something else to consider. Before you install anything at all, even driver booster, install revo uninstaller. Its free and you can use it to remove installed apps and all the files that go with them. In my experience, its best to have revo installed first before installing anything else so it knows all the files that go with the thing you want removed. Seems good.
@JasonBagnell20 күн бұрын
Hi! Yes, Revo Uninstaller is a good program that goes above and beyond what Windows does with its Add/Remove programs function. Every now and then a program might fail to uninstall or it might crash during the installation, which can cause program (and potentially system) problems that could be difficult to fix. Revo Uninstaller is great for stripping out all traces of programs that are causing issues on a PC. Thanks for sharing the tip! Cheers -- Jason :)

On install windows page , I can't see those disks option as I have storage of half tb space still there are not visible on that page , so what should I do
@JasonBagnell16 күн бұрын
Hi! Sometimes the Windows Setup program may not have the storage controller drivers for your PC . Changing the storage controller's setting in the computer's BIOS/UEFI from RAID to AHCI (or disabling the RAID feature, however it is done on your motherboard) will likely allow the installation to continue. If you are somewhat technical, you can download the storage controller drivers from your PC manufacturer's website and then click the "Load driver" button at the bottom of the screen when you reach that point. I have run into this issue when working on newer Dell PCs that require the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) driver during the Windows setup process. I saved a copy of the files you'll need in a .ZIP file on my website server: www.jbyte.com/RST_V19.1.0.1001_PV.zip That *might* contain the driver files your system requires. Try extracting them to a folder on the USB flash drive and browse to it after clicking the "Load drivers" button. If it doesn't work, try locating the drivers specifically for your motherboard. Thanks! -- Jason :)

Hi! Sorry it took a while for me to write back. There might be a hardware issue with your PC because running "Reset this PC" program did not seem to help. You could either contact Lenovo for them to check it out (run diagnostics, etc), or you could try performing a clean install yourself. Hello again! FYI: I just read an that stated that non-compliant (old) PCs that are running Windows 11 (using the hack) will not be able to upgrade to Windows 11 version 24H2 when it comes out later this year. Your Windows 11 23H2 version will continue to work and receive updates until Nov. 11, 2025 and then Microsoft will consider it to be at "End of Support". That doesn't mean that your copy of Windows will stop working but Microsoft won't continue to produce bug fixes and security updates for it. Here's a link to the article: www.ghacks.net/2024/02/12/windows-11-24h2-to-enforce-hardware-requirement In your situation it doesn't really mean much, because Microsoft has also declared October 14, 2025 as the End of Support date for Windows 10 as well. Sometimes when so many people complain and keep using their old operating system, Microsoft has been known to extend the dates a few more years. We'll see what happens. -- Jason

Yes, you can use any Windows-based computer to create the Windows Installation Media flash drive. It does not add anything specific from your PC to the flash drive so it can be used again and again to install/reinstall Windows on different computers. Some newer PCs might require you to provide the Intel RST storage drivers during the installation, so if you don't see any drives or partitions listed when you run the Windows 11 setup program, that is most likely why. If you got stuck DURING the Windows 11 Setup program (due to it not recognizing the hard drive controller / hard drive), download and extract the SATA drivers/files from the Asus website into a new folder on the Windows 11 flash drive and then click the "Load driver" button during the Setup process to see if you can provide the driver files required for the Setup program to recognize your PC's controller/drive(s). I can see in BIOS eazy mode the SSDs but when I go to SSD config no one is detected. Tried on another pc and they showed up fine. Windows tries to repair but cant do it. Do you know if thats repairable or is the motherboard gone?

Hi! If you get to the part where it asks which partition you want to install Windows on and nothing appears in the list, you'll need to either 1) Disable RAID in the BIOS/UEFI (Switch it to AHCI) and boot up again to the flash drive, or 2) download the hard drive controller drivers from the manufacturer's website and click the "Load drivers" button at that point in during the process. The Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) drivers are often the ones you'll need. You'll need to extract the driver's files into a folder on the USB flash drive and then browse to that folder after clicking the "Load drivers" button. I've also seen newer (Dell) PCs where the UEFI BIOS that *will not* allow it to recognize any hard drives that are configured to use MBR partitions (as opposed to GPT partitions). The easiest thing to try first is to disable the RAID feature of the motherboard. Let me know if that helps. Thanks! -- Jason

You can unplug the flash drive after the first part of the Windows installation complete, right when the system reboots. is there any way to get the windows 11 without having the flashdrive? and also my pc only supports windows 10
@JasonBagnellАй бұрын
Hi! You can use the Windows Media Creation utility to create a bootable DVD that contains the installation files. Also, because your PC does not meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11, you should consider buying a different PC that is more up-to-date. There are methods to force Windows 11 to install on older hardware but Microsoft could release an update at any time that will disallow those non-compliant PCs from updating any further. If you're on a budget, there are some computer shops (hopefully near you) that sell 3-4 year old used business computers at 25% of their new price (one example: refreshcomputers.net/shop ). Windows 11 requires an 8th generation (or newer) Intel processor so don't buy anything older than that. I hope this helps! -- Jason :)

You can use your current PC to create the flash drive, which will contain a bootable copy of the Windows setup program as long as your computer can connect to the Internet right now. If your current computer is unable to boot into Windows and access the Internet, you will need to create the flash drive using another computer.

Hi! Sometimes running the "CHKDSK C: /F" command from the Command Prompt in the recovery environment clears up the issue. When the message appears that states "Start Repair couldn't repair your PC", click on the "Advanced Options" button. On the next screen, click on the "Advanced options" button. The click the "Troubleshoot" button followed by the "Command Prompt" button. A black command prompt Windows will open. Next, you need to switch to the driver letter that your version of Windows is installed on. Type C: and press enter. Then type DIR and press enter. You're looking for the drive that contains the following folders: Program Files, Program Files (x86), Users, Windows. If you don't see those listed, enter a higher drive letter followed by a colon and press enter. For example: D: and press enter. Type DIR and press enter. See if that drive contains the folders we're looking for. Continue increasing the drive letter until you find it. Let's say that you find the folders on D:. We would then type the following command: CHKDSK D: /F and press enter. Allow the program to run. It will fix any errors it finds in the file table for that drive letter. Then type the following command and press enter: bootrec /fixboot Next, enter the following command and press enter: bootrec /fixboot You might get an access denied error message after that command but that's OK. Close the command prompt window by clicking on the X in the upper right corner. Click on the button that says "Continue Exit and continue to Windows 10/11". Hopefully the PC will boot properly. Let me know how it goes! -- Jason

If so, hopefully you didn't need any of the information contained on the drive. There are data recovery programs that can rebuild the partitions and restore them if that is the case. Hi! Someone else just posted a similar issue on my "Windows 10 Clean Install" video. Here's how I responded there: BEGIN QUOTE: ---- When that happens, it means that the Windows Installation program does not have the drivers that are required for it to operate with your PC's hard drive controller. One solution that usually works is to disable the "RAID" or "Intel RST" setting for the hard drive controller and set it to "AHCI" mode in the PC's BIOS/UEFI. The installation media should be able to access the drive(s) after making the change. Another option would be to download the Storage Controller drivers from the PC Manufacturer's website and save the files in a folder on the Flash Drive. You'll need to figure out how to extract all of the files because the Windows Setup program will not recognize an .EXE or .ZIP file. When you reach the part of Windows Setup that asks "Where do you want to install Windows", click on the "Load driver" button at the bottom and navigate to the files you downloaded/extracted. The drive/partitions should appear and installation will continue normally from there. END QUOTE: --- Maybe one of those two suggestion will help you as well. I find that a lot of the newer Dell PCs require the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers to be loaded during the Windows 11 setup process before the hard drive and it's partitions will appear. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! -- Jason :)

When you reach the point where you can click the "Load drivers" button, click it and navigate to the folder you created earlier. Hopefully that will work and your hard drive and it's data partitions will appear. Please let me know if it works! Thanks -- Jason

Hi! This video describes a Windows 11 "Clean Install", so it is possible that the device drivers that get installed during the installation do not include some of the drivers specific to your computer. If the PC can access the Internet, the fastest way to get most (or all) of the drivers you need is to install the Driver Booster program mentioned towards the end of the video. I have great luck with it whenever I am in situation similar to yours. If your computer cannot access the Internet, you'll need to download and install the drivers for your network card (or WiFi Adapter) from the PC manufacturer's website. Once you're online, you'll be able to locate the rest of the missing drivers, or simply use Driver Booster to help with the process. I hope this helps! -- Jason

It sounds like you've created the Windows Installation flash drive, booted the PC from it and the Windows Setup program is not recognizing the hard drive or the drive controller. You'll need to go to the manufacturer's website for your computer (or motherboard) and download any drivers related to the Storage Controller, SATA controller, etc. onto the flash drive and then use "Load Driver" button to see if it Windows Setup will locate the files is needs to continue. If your PC can still boot into Windows, there is a much easier method you can use to reset it. I made a video about how to use the built-in Microsoft "Reset this PC" program to erase the computer and leave it with a completely fresh copy of Windows. See my video about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIiVp2aDlN15jLs You don't need to use the "Clean data: Yes" option unless you're selling the PC, giving it away or discarding it. Yes, if you're running Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11, using the built-in "Reset this PC" program with the "Remove Everything" and "Clean data: Yes" options can completely erase the drive and install a fresh copy of Windows. I made a video about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIiVp2aDlN15jLs People who are starting with a new/blank hard drive will need to install Windows from scratch, along with anyone that is loading up a new Windows Virtual machine. PCs that are running Windows 7 can still be upgraded to newer versions of Windows but some people might want to perform a clean install to break away from everything related to their previous operating system instead of upgrading, which would drag some of the old components into the new upgraded operating system. Other times, people just like to perform a fresh/clean installation themselves. Thanks for your comment and have a great day! -- Jason :)

With most Desktops and Laptops (excluding self/custom built machines), there should be a product key embedded in the UEFI firmware of the machine, which the Windows installer will automatically detect and use to select the edition for you However, there are some devices which come with an unusual edition of Windows You will normally only run into this edition if you buy refurbished devices If the device came with that edition, then you shouldn't use the media creation tool (the ISO image downloads on the page where you download the media creation tool do have that edition though)

Hi! I'm glad you got it fixed, and congrats on figuring out the storage controller driver issue. :) Microsoft really needs to include more of the common storage drivers in their Windows Installation Media tool. Many new PCs use the Intel RST controller and the Windows installation will often display a blank partition table during the installation because it doesn't know how to access the controller. When that started happening, I discovered that the latest "Hiren's BootCD PE" bootable image could be used to boot up the PC and access the information on the drive, if needed... but downloading/extracting and loading the latest Intel RST drivers during the Windows 10/11 installation allowed it to continue. (AMD PCs might need a different driver). Have a great day! -- Jason

It’s funny that using driver booster is what brought me to this video
@JasonBagnell13 күн бұрын
Hi! I have seen Driver Booster install an incorrect driver that caused problems in about 2 out the 150 times I've used it. Usually running the Windows System Restore utility will get everything back to good working order. It has, however, saved me much more time that it has ever wasted with problems. The Windows Updates program that runs in the background immediately after Windows has been freshly installed usually picks up everything that the PC requires. You just need to wait a little while for all of the Windows Updates to get installed. If it overlooks something, I sometimes download/run Driver Booster and use that tool to only download/install the (1) single device driver that I'm missing. I wasn't sure if I should include Driver Booster in this video but since everyone would be starting from a 100% fresh install, nothing is really lost if Driver Booster ends up causing problems after a driver update. Were you able to get your PC's problem resolved and get it up and running again? Thanks -- Jason

Find your way to the "Command Prompt" (under troubleshooting/advanced). Make sure you don't have any USB flash drives or external drives plugged into the computer (so you don't accidentally select the wrong drive and erase them). Your PC's hard drive should be known as Disk 0. Type "DISKPART" and press enter. Type "List Disk" and press enter. Your PC's hard drive will most likely appear as "Disk 0". The size listed should roughly match the size of your PC's hard drive. If so, "select disk 0" and press enter. **WARNING** -->> This next command will completely remove ALL partitions and data from the drive. DO NOT issue this command if you have ANYTHING on the drive you want to keep because EVERYTHING will be deleted. Here's the command to type in: Type in "clean" and press enter. That's it! ALL partitions should now be removed from the drive. Boot up from the USB flash drive and your Windows installation should continue like it appears in the video. @JasonBagnell5 ай бұрын
@@WaleedHayat045 If your PC has a low powered processor/CPU, the CPU utilization will frequently jump to 100%, especially when you first boot up Windows. It should, however, finish booting up and then settle down to 0-2%. I just received your message about having an Intel 10th generation i3 CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD so the capability of the processor is most likely not the problem. If you just performed a "Clean Install" of Windows 11 and the PC is still running at 100C, the problem you're having is might be hardware related. You should see how the computer runs immediately after clean-installing Windows 11, *before* you load any software or additional browsers (like Chrome, etc). If everything runs well at that point, install the additional programs one-by-one and monitor the CPU temperature to see if you find a particular program that causes the 100C spike. It might be one specific program that is causing the problem. Also make sure that all of the PC's drivers are installed in the Device Manager. It is also possible that the PC is having a hardware issue. If the CPU fan is not working or clogged with dust/fur, the computer will overheat. If CPU thermal compound was not applied between the CPU and heatsink, that will definately cause the issue. If the CPU fan is not installed perfectly flat, that will cause it too. Whenever CPU temps reach 100C, the processor protects itself by slowing down the CPU's clock speed, which makes everything *VERY* slow. You can try blowing out the CPU fan and heatsink fins with compressed air. If this is a laptop computer, you can carefully blow out the CPU fan's exhaust ports while the laptop is OFF. Make sure you don't hold the compressed air can upside down or at an angle because it will blow cold liquid into the laptop. You said that the computer was purchased from a local shop so you might want to have them look at it to troubleshoot the issue. The problem is either hardware or software related. Computer technicians narrow down the cause of the problem by eliminating the possibilities one-by-one. Hopefully it is something simple. Good luck with everything! -- Jason

@@JasonBagnell Watched is that basically formatting the drive I elieve I have a bot I can't get rid of?
@JasonBagnell7 ай бұрын
The video I made about using the "Reset this PC" should get rid of any malware, spyware, viruses and bad programs and software. If you select the "Clean data: Yes" option, it will secure-erase (overwrite) all unused portions of the hard drive, which takes a long time. If your PC has more than one hard drive or data partition, I made another video that shows where to make the "Resets this PC" program erase ALL hard drives (and partitions) instead of just the Windows partition. See: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZTIeaN9oc2jb6c Make sure that you DO NOT need any data that is on the drive(s) because the procedure in that video will erase everything. If the "bot" remains on the computer after that, your PC might have a "BIOS" or "Firmware" virus, but those are much less common. You could try going to the PC/motherboard manufacturer's website and download/install the latest BIOS update for your PC's motherboard and that might purge out the bug. Also you might want to make sure that no other USB drives or flash drives are connected to your computer. The bug might be hiding on one of those. A great program I've used to get rid of VERY difficult viruses is: HitMan Pro: www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/downloads You can run it in the one-time FREE mode and it will identify what might be causing the problem and where the problematic program is being stored. Good luck with everything! -- Jason

I don't know why I can't delete my partions and create new ones
@JasonBagnell2 ай бұрын
Hi! That's strange. I haven't come across that one before. So you've booted from the USB flash drive and made it to the point where it asks "Where do you want to install Windows", and it doesn't let you select and delete each of the existing partitions? If that happened to me, I would boot the PC using "Hiren's BootCD PE" and then use one of the hard drive partitioning programs to remove all of the partitions from the drive. [Make sure you don't need ANY of the data on the drive before deleting them]. Once you've deleted the partitions, boot the PC from the Windows 11 USB flash drive and hopefully everything will work properly from there. Let me know if you need any help with anything I mentioned above. I could probably locate a video about how to download and boot to the Hiren's BootCD PE image file. Note: Using Hiren's BootCD PE is easy for me because I already have a bootable flash drive that contains the bootable image. If you don't want to go through the process of creating it, you could also click the "Repair your computer" option at the beginning of the Windows 11 installation. Locate and click on the "Command Prompt" option. Under Advanced or Troubleshooting. Once the command prompt window appears, type in DISKPART and press the enter key. Next type in "LIST DISK" and a list of the drives in your computer will appear. Identify the drive in the list that is the main bootable drive for your PC (Usually drive 0). Type in "SELECT DISK 0" and press ENTER. Then type "CLEAN" and press enter (only if you don't need ANY of the data located on the drive). Doing that should have cleared/removed ALL of the data partitions from the drive. Next, reboot the PC to the Windows 11 Flash Drive again and hopefully the installation will continue without any problems. I hope some of this helps resolve the issue your PC was having. Have a great day -- Jason :)

@JasonBagnell8 ай бұрын
That is strange. If you were able to create the bootable Windows 11 flash drive, booted the PC from it, deleted all of the partitions on the drive and the Windows setup process completed, it should not be asking for an Admin password unless you entered one during the setup process. Is that the procedure you followed? Some PCs might require that you enter a password before you can enter the BIOS/CMOS/UEFI settings page when you first turn the computer on. If that is the case, ask anyone who might know what it is. There is also a procedure to move a "jumper" on the motherboard to erase a forgotten CMOS/BIOS/Startup password if necessary. Let me know what ends up happening. Thanks -- Jason

If your PC was previously running Windows 10 or 11, it most likely has a Digital Product License that is registered on the Microsoft Activation servers. You can select "I don't have a product key" and it will automatically activate your previous license if that is the case. Have a great weekend! -- Jason

What if I want to keep all my data? Can I install on the same drive?
@JasonBagnell3 ай бұрын
Yes, in that case you should NOT remove any of the partitions at the beginning of the process. There is a point where you are asked to choose between "Upgrade" and "Custom". If you use "Upgrade", the setup program will attempt to repair the core Windows installation files while leaving your data and applications in place. If you want to perform a completely "Clean install" (but also leave the old copy of your Windows files and data on the drive), you can select the "Custom" option. Again, do NOT remove any of the partitions. Select the large primary partition as the destination on the "Where do you want to install Windows" screen. The original C:\Windows folder will be renamed to "C:\Windows.old\Windows" and then a completely fresh/clean copy of Windows will be installed into the (now blank) C:\Windows folder. Other items like C:\Programs Files, C:\Program Files (x86) and C:\Users will be moved into the C:\Windows.old folder. Once the installation is complete, you will have a completely blank/clean Windows installation and all of the old files from the past will located underneath the C:\Windows.Old folder. I hope this helps! Cheers -- Jason :)

You don't need to own windows 11 or what? in this video you skipped typing in code and didn't see anything after
@JasonBagnell7 ай бұрын
Hi! Your PC most likely came with Windows 10 or Windows 11 preinstalled. Microsoft started using digital licenses, where your PC's hardware identifiers are tied to the Windows license that came with the computer. When you reinstall Windows 10 and 11 without entering a product key, the Windows Activation program queries the Microsoft Activation Servers shortly after the Windows desktop appears and the license is validated against what it was before. Also, a Windows 10 license will usually allow you to install Windows 11 using the same key. Thanks! -- Jason :)

Hi! It sounds like you are on the right track but you probably haven't found the correct driver to add to the USB flash drive yet. Before going further, you can try toggling the RAID/AHCI setting in your computer's BIOS/UEFI. Sometimes turning off RAID will make the PC use a storage controller that is more compatible. If that doesn't work, put it back to it's original setting and then take a look at this video I found on KZbin about how to find the appropriate storage driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4XMgXaJnqqWra8si=neQfOfEK8kCZ80mD&t=180 I hope that helps! @@JasonBagnell I needed to download a different driver. Is this common with the more recent generations of intel? It was smooth sailing for the rest of the installation process but unfortunately the clean install wasn't able to fix my original issue.

Yes, I've found that when I try to use a bootable Windows 11 flash drive on some of the newer name-brand PCs, the hard drive controller is not recognized and I have to locate the appropriate driver from the manufacturer's website before the hard drive becomes available for the installation. I hope Microsoft updates their Media Creation utility so that it includes ALL of today's hard drive controller drivers. It is frustrating and sometimes takes a lot of time to figure out which driver the Windows Setup program is looking for. I'm glad you got it all sorted out. Have a great day! -- Jason

Hi! Try removing the USB flash drive after you see "Windows needs to restart to continue" and it starts counting down from 10 to 0. The computer might be booting up to the flash drive again after the restart. At that point, the flash drive is no longer needed. If that doesn't help, you can try disconnecting any other USB hard drives/Flash drives that are connected during the installation. You can also try connecting the flash drive to a different USB port or try recreating the Windows 11 Installation Media Drive (possibly using a different USB flash drive). Hopefully some of these suggestions will help. Let me know what ends of happening. Thanks -- Jason
