I didn’t care about the power consumption. These laptop CPU’s like 5900HS is for a laptop, but is fast. Replaced my desktop for VMs and programming. PCI nvme and 64gb of ram….. it’s perfect. And so small.

Wow, if Id be searching now for a mini PC with a very good hardware, this for sure one of the top choices I think, I really loved this one! BTW, Thunderbolt is a capability of Intel CPU etc. I know it is possible on desktop AMD PC's to get a thunderbolt expansion card but not sure how worth is it, I guess if it's USB-C port is fast enough, there's no need beyond that.

Very good point about thunderbolt, thank you! Makes also good sense, given the past relationship between them and Apple. Recently a friend was looking for a MiniPC with thunderbolt support and we figured that fery few ones really support it.

@@TechMishka The real question is why do you need a Thunderbolt support, many USB-C ports that are non thunderbolt will still support a display and very high speeds, I'd say that Thunderbolt is needed if there's a specific device or dock that works only with that

Great video. New to your channel, enjoying your content. How does the S500+ compare to Great Lizard AL1? 😉 8:28 --- Intel's AX200 chip is spec'd as follows: • • • @ 2.4 ghz, the possible max is 71.7 MBs (or 573.6 Mbps). • • • @ 5.0 ghz, the possible max is 300 MBs (or 2.4 Gbs).

This one is much more powerful than GreatLizard's model. I think right now the sweetspot is Ryzen 5600 or 5800 series in terms of balance between performance and price. Intel's i-core are getting a lot better after generation 11.

I keep trying to get excited about mini PCs but they fail to do so. The $700 price is without memory or storage. So you would basically be buying a laptop without any memory or storage, no GPU, and no display. I can think of a couple of specific reasons why someone might want to get such a feature sparse unit but otherwise, for just the cost of adding memory and storage, you can get yourself a better laptop.

Good point, Paul! I find these to be very practical. Was really close to order one of the Mac Studio editions, but I'm still not convinced whether it is worth paying that much. If this one gets an easy way to add a GPU... I will definitely think about it,

I have this unit too and while i like it the fan noise is just absolutely insane. Do you find you have this issue too?

Actually mine is very quiet. You can try to clean any dust.

You can adjust fan speeds from the BIOS, and limit TDP from ryzen controller if you want it really quiet. There is no need for fan being loud, when CPU is less than 50C Also changing CPU paste helps. There are different sellers for these (almost) identical machines, and some sellers have not pre-configured things as well. But you can do it yourself quite easily.

Expensive. I can buy an Xbox series x for £450 and have change for a decent 144hz 1440p monitor in a decent size to boot!!!

Yes, but you can't browse the net or do *any* office type work with an xbox, or print worth a damn, or do much of *any* kind of productivity on an xbox. However if all you ever do is play games, then play away and stick to watching xbox videos. cheers mate.

Nice mini-pc but it is not support external graphics card by thunderbolt, because i use Adobe Photoshop. If supported i will buy now this pc. This time good choice is notebook.

Nothing is impossible, but Iam not sure if it is worth the hassle and risks.

You can adjust the fan speed from BIOS. If you change it to 10% when under 30C it will be silent most of the time. The default fan speed is quite high even when idling

@@TechMishka hey my USA asysmbled server works fine with an intel wifi chip. Youre missing the point they dont service the customer after the sale. Not a big fan of intl but they get that you have to have drivers for linux. Not just say heres a driveevfor the 11th failed attempt at writing an os.
