Let me put it this way. If 70% of users are still on Win 10 and apparently people are going back to Win 10 3 years after Win 11 was released doesnt bang their heads enough to realize that people are not comfortable and dont want what they did with Win 11 then i guess they are doomed to fail here. There is pretty much no reason to write anything else in here because Microsoft doesnt listen to their users anyway. Also Linux is getting much more attention it seems but its not viable option for most people because of software and driver compatibility.

@@goofyrulez7914 Those are called "features" these days. These gimmicks that they are so proud of are reason why 70% of users are still on Win 10 and apparently people are going back. Win 11 dropped from 28% to 25% in couple of months and there are people who actually still run Win 7 and Win XP which is funny since those were still one of the best versions of Windows.

@MichaelDustter Its funny how my comments gets deleted pretty frequently these days no matter the topic but youre right. Most of that hardware is still viable and will be for years to come. I do have some older hardware laying around here that i was gonna use for home server although i still havent figured out how i want to approach that yet but its still working and will have its use to certain people.

I tried Windows 11. The power button had no power options, so I could not turn off or re-boot my PC. The start menu was full of rubbish I had no interest in and could not get rid of them. And as always, trying to find my way around how to turn things off. My target is now set to 22H2. I'm never trying Windows 11 again! Hi Brian, thanks for the video. Yes, with Start11, you can customize the Start menu in Windows 11 and make it look much better than it is now. I don't like the recommended section in Windows 11, but it can be removed with Start11 and other software. And speaking of the perhaps upcoming new Start menu in Windows 11 with floating widgets, I don't like how it looks now, and I also wish that there were more options to customize the Windows 11 Start menu in the Windows settings. But yes, with the Start 11 software, you can absolutely fix the Start menu. I also like the other software, Windhawk Windows 11 Start Menu Styler take care, Brian, and have a lovely weekend.

The Windows 11 Start Menu is even worse than was the XP one. Thankfully Open Shell makes the Start Menu into a proper one. I've stopped all updates in pretty much every single way I could find to do so both in services, registry and Group policy, I've also made my updates pause until 2032, in fact I'm even thinking of trying to stop Windows from going online at all. My PC and my software works absolutely fine in the versions I have, it does everything I want it to do, and my own internet security suite keeps me safe, there really is no point in allowing Microsoft wreck all that because they pretend to listen to 'what people want' but instead do exactly what they want regardless of the people's opinions and desires who buy their software. You said that this new so-called improvement looks 'hideous', you are right, it does, but then the start menu is a monstrous thing anyway - and it's going to get worse too.

I just updated one of my Windows 10 to Windows 11, and it turned up with 24H2, which surprised me. And yes, the Start Menu is there, as described, but I got rid of it quite easily, no problem.

Nothing they do surprises me anymore. They always 'assume' they know what we want. Try asking us! One thing that definitely needs a future video is their decision to turn on Bitlocker by default when you install Windows. I can't see that going down well if they try rolling it out to the public.

@@Britec09 That will be a good video to make. I can see a problem with BitLocker by default on W11 Home. Most users won't keep the key/don't know anything about it - and risk losing data when it goes pear shaped. Look forward to the vid.

When does support for Windows 11 22H2 end and where is the website for this information? I've turned off Copilot in gpedit and I've delayed feature updates for a year. If support for 22H2 ends this year, can I go to 23H2 or am I obliged to go directly to 24H2? I have turned off all telemetry from various apps as to your ultimate guide to privacy video.

I don't understand the negativity of the video given the fact that you'd be able to turn the feature off. I had a Windows phone and i like live tiles and i believe this is a better solution than having a separate gigantic tray full of widgets. Ideally I'd like to see an option to pin the widgets on the desktop but this start menu i certainly like more than the current boring start menu.

Windows undeneath may be a good operating sydtem, but sll this silly eye candy takes away from that. I truly believe we are seeing the results of firing their senior programming staff. Microsoft has confirmed that BitLocker encryption will be enabled by default in Windows 11 24H2 Home & Pro. Brian can you make a video on the registry hack to block it.

I really dislike the idea of using Linux as my main desktop, but I might be forced to switch if this is the direction Microsoft is taking Windows. They finally perfected the Start menu in Windows 10 after years of user feedback and evolution from Windows 7 and 8 and earlier versions of 10, and now we have this absolute garbage. I feel like this new Start menu on 11 is designed by iPad kids who don't know how to use an actual desktop computer for real work.

Which is pretty much never. You dont have to move to Win 11. There are still people who use Win XP and Win 7 out there and with Win 10 it makes up about 75% of Windows users xD

I don't like the start menu taking up a lot of real estate. Hopefully they won't disable the ability to use openshell or start11 to get the classic menu. I think the reason they don't embrace those types of menus, is you said it, they want that ad space added to the menu.

I don't care about the way M$ organizes Start menu, or Windows Explorer. I use it my way. Total Commander for file operations. Links at the desktop or desktop folders to organize and group the programs I need and use frequently. If some of the links are broken then I'm informed that I forgot to install some software or have to renew the link after e.g. updates ) M$ will never make it simple and useful for you. It's you who can make it

I love AI, I work with it. But I don't like this AI creep in to my OS (It's not just the desktop, it's in other Microsoft apps already too.) Why? I don't trust these companies. I deal with some personal information of clients that would ruin me if they get leaked. Potentially even put their lives at risk.
