For the IDE Optical Drive, you could get a rounded IDE cable, or alternatively, get a black IDE cable, and fold it at 90 degrees to route it to the optical drive for a cleaner look. Example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXmoY6mnr6ZpZ8k Depending on the length of the IDE cable, you can even just cut off the ribbon from the slave to master connector, or remove the slave connector.

Yea I could look for alternative cables, but it's not bothering me enough to "need" to do that. If I ever go full on clear side panel I might. The "round" ones back in the day were usually unbound, loose wires, which, I'd imagine, may have has some signal loss issues, not being fully insulated and isolated from each other. I'll look into newer options and play around. Good tip, thanks.

i nvr had issues but you should formate the drive somehow it was auto formatted to 120gb out of a 250gb SSD i don't play retro games much but it will help keep the SSD alive longer

It has a single partition that's using all 250GB and it seems OK and it won't get used excessively so I think it will be OK. But that's a good tip for a machine that would get a lot of wear-and-tear.
