Thank you was about to make a blog and video of important commands to look for my job interview and you made it easy. The two great part I liked about this video is 1. How to rectify errors and in what order you need to use sfc and dism. 2. The telnet part explaining what way it can be used.

Tracert also uses ICMP echo (ping) packets, it just sends a lot less and so it does not show all the info in the output pathping does. My tracert test had sent 60 ICMP echo packets over 9 hops while pathping had 1730 over 9 hops. Pathping also takes a while so one can see why both exist.

Good video, but one comment. The wording seemed to indicate that Windows will ARP to get the MAC address of any device it talks to. This isn't true. It will ARP to get the MAC address of any device on the local network that it talks to. If the device it's talking to is on a remote network, Windows will ARP to get the MAC address of the default gateway. It will use the default gateway's MAC address for the local network address, but use the IP address for the remote device.

I like to watch these videos even if I know all that stuff, it's so well explained! Other "commands" that are useful are the ones you type in the execute box (win+R). Saves a lot of time if you work as an IT. Exemples: compmgmt.msc (computer management) devmgmt.msc (device manager) control panel taskschd.msc (task scheduler) taskmgr (task manager) diskmgmt.msc (disk management) appwiz.cpl (add/remove programs) etc.

See the difference between wan and lan. Your local network can be linked at over 100mbps if you have the right cables and all devices support it, but if your actual internet port is below 100mbps, you will be limited to that speed connecting to external devices over the internet
@tobe2240

Imagine you have a racing car in your garage. The garage door are large enough (866 mbps) to let the car through and you can drive it around your plot (LAN). Unfortunately the only gate in your fence (router) is wide enough just for a single person to pass (100 mbps). So you can drive your car very fast on your plot for example to get mail from mailbox and put it on the table in the living room, but you must go on foot outside (the Internet) to get the groceries and such, so it takes you a longer time overall. Of course you take a spin in your race car to the gate (from host to gateway - 866mbps), but you must go outside on foot (from the gateway into the Internet - 100 mbps).

This video is labelled wrong. Instead of it being "Windows Command Line Tools" it SHOULD say, "Windows Command Line NETWORKING Tools." I have been using DOS for over 30 years and the only command I have ever used in this video is PING. The commands you are using are so obscure nobody really needs to use them. As long as you can watch KZbin then the internet is working! Yet, the commands used all the time are, "ECHO, CLS, DIR, COPY, XCOPY," etc., yet these are not explained here at all and are 100% so much more useful.
