This happened on an optiplex 780, how ever it isn't with just one drive but two. But the computer would shut down here and there, it wasn't a power problem, obviously. So it could only be, a main system board problem.

@@plubu7515 I actually bought a windows 7 disc, and did a reinstall. I lost the windows 7 system. I couldn't even logon to a wireless network. I tried a driver for one wireless adapter but it didn't work. Did you have backups of you're files?

@@plubu7515 If you happen to have another drive, and a USB, you could install linux using a installer, and copy files from the other drive, so two drives connected in one computer. But that doesn't change the fact that unless you have had a windows system restore point in windows 7, a disc would be one way to get the 7 system working again. I didn't have that, so I lost everything, but due to having another drive with linux installed on it three years back, I was able to back up my files.
