Another interesting video. I noticed this time that all of them gave you a rather yellow complexion before you adjusted the settings. I'd not noticed it so much on previous videos. I'd like to suggest a hypothesis and a test about this. On my screen at least your background is very blue plus grey. I've a theory that these cameras try to balance the entire image, rather than favouring the centred subject. But for some reason they don't expect the blue bias and try to cancel it out. The opposite of blue on a colour wheel is yellow, so you end up with jaundice. If they didn't hate blue, or metered the subject most they might do better. It would be interesting to test their default behaviour if your background was draped in boring neutral coloured sheets. 😎🧙‍♂️

This is exactly my theory and soon to be a proof or law. Also my black shirts don't help the autoexposure. Sometimes I intentionally change the background coloring and brightness to help the cameras out a bit. The problem then is that I can either optimize for skin tones or background, but not both. Either skin is yellow or everything is purple (see the N60 Nexigo review 🙁) . Recent BRIO updates seem to correct this a lot and of course my full frame and APS-C cameras have no issues. A lot of streamers watch these videos, so I do try to keep the dark RGB background on purpose, because it's a real/challenging representation.

I'm sure it will be great. Love your vids. I decided to buy a BRIO 4k. I know razer kiyo pro ultra must be better, however importing to my country it may be at least twice the price of brio 4k. I don't think it is worth.@@DeployJeremy

In case of DELL Ultra 4k: I have noticed that in HDR mode the picture quality goes down in comparison with HDR off (gets more cubics and looks low quality). I hav enoticed it on video here and personally testing it. Any explanation for it. Can it be improved?

Hello! It was a good video! If I understand correctly, could I ask for your opinion? Then the Lenovo 510 fhd is recommended. Although I have seen few tests about it, I think it is possible to blur/remove the background with other software.. customize OBS, etc.. I should read more about this..

That's correct. If you have an Nvidia GPU, their implementation of background blur or removal with Nvidia Broadcast is my preference, otherwise there are other options, including OBS plugins for this.

@@DeployJeremy Thanks! It is likely that I will invest in one, it would be my first camera. What I'm not sure about is whether the computer needs to have a TPM for Windows Hello to work. Because I'm currently using Win 11 Pro on an incompatible machine. Do you have any experience with this?

@@laszlototh4417 it doesn't need TPM to work, you should be fine. I don't have a system without a TPM to verify this 100%, but I'm 99% certain it will work. How old is your system to not have a TPM 2.0? They are in almost every board from around 2016 onwards. Usually the problem is not having 8th Gen or newer Intel (2018).

@@DeployJeremy Sorry, maybe I worded it wrong.. My machine (does not meet the system requirements): TPM 2.0 must be supported and enabled on this computer. I7-4790 3.6Ghz, TPM not found. Maybe it will work independently..?

Supplement: I think I'll just invest in this Lenovo 510 FHD, I'll upgrade later. The camera will be needed for basic things, not just for Windows Hello.

I've noticed almost every HDR implementation makes the quality go down with webcams. I believe they are taking a sensor that supports 60fps, then applying those extra frames to an algorithm the calculate a 30fps HDR image. It tends to mess universally with contrast and light flicker. I have a feeling the HDR modes on most of these cameras is about checking a feature box for spec comparisons.

Yes, you don't have to enable Windows Hello login with the Brio 4k, it's optional.

Yes, it works in a dark room. I've used it in pitch black rooms. They all work pretty well, so I wouldn't say one Windows Hello implementation is superior to another.

Can anyone confirm/deny that these cameras (specifically the Lenovo) will allow Hello to work through a USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 hub?

I used mine on a Thunderbolt 4 port without a hub. I don't see why it wouldn't work with a hub, but I don't have one to test with.
