Here is a tip...to get back the classic progress bar style resume loading screen you delete the folder called Fonts (NOT to be confused with C:\WIndows\Fonts) in C:\Boot\Fonts and it will give you the old style loading screen. Applies to 7 and vista (might work on newer builds but I havent tested it). Just for anyone who for whatever reason wanted to know how to do that. and yes it is perfectly harmless I have done it to my own system and have not had any issues.

@Kiki79250CoC2 жыл бұрын
Modern Windows won't boot on non-ACPI devices. -- Also Hibernating is a bit different. It saves the RAM content into the disk and shutdown the computer, so you can literally unplug it after "shutdown" and when you re-plug it and turn it on, you will be back on your desktop like just getting your PC out of Sleep.

I thought hibernation was safer and more effective than shutdown, the latter doesn't properly shut down your pc even if you disabled the fast startup while the former lets you continue where you left off. At least, restart is the remedy to the slow performance.
@scythal2 жыл бұрын
Shutdowns these days on modern versions of Windows is practically just hibernation but with fancy dressing.
@0xEARTH2 жыл бұрын
...hibernation =/= shutdown though. the difference is what you mentioned; the former lets you continue where you left off. it's more comparable to sleep than it is shutting down, personally: • sleep saves your current PC state into RAM, and places the PC into a lower-power state; • hibernation saves your current PC state to your hard drive, then turns off the PC; • shutting down closes all programs, ends your session, and turns off the PC. hibernation is more of a combination of sleep and shutting down and wouldn't save your performance or anything, as everything about your PC's state before hibernation is saved. restarting is just shutting down but the PC never shuts fully off and turns itself back on to reboot Windows.
