Guys if you want to get into IoT ( internet of THINGS ) you have to realize that it requires you to well know how to setup THINGS( no pun intended ) so that means that learning how to use a prototypeboard/breadboard is an crucial skill since without one you just have a very boring project, and please learn how to solder, it's a lifelong skill and very useful ( not to mention learning electronics could save you a couple of bucks at the end of the day)

Is it possible to interface to MS SQL Server from Window IoT? (without it, Linux seems to be the better option)

Great stuff. Looking forward to remote deploy and debug...only problem is, none of this works with 3B or 4...and old 3's are rare to buy.

This is going to be a great series. Can you talk more about ww.up-board.org and which board is best for W10 IoT Core development? Or for initial phase should we stay with RPi3 B+ ?

Hello, i'm a beginner with rasperry pi and windows 10 iot, i want to know if there is a method to instal visual studio or visual studio code on the raspery directly?
4 жыл бұрын
Very unlikely, Visual Studio is an x86 app, not an ARM app. But you don't need to be running Visual Studio on your Raspberry Pi. You just need to run it on your desktop/laptop computer, and connect it to your Raspberry Pi via the IOT Core Dashboard app.

can I use python instead of c# with windows 10 IOT ?
@lyalin6 жыл бұрын
If you search for this topic it seems some people are doing Python but I dont think its formally supported.

Hi all, For some reason the Windows IoT Core Dashboard won't burn abootable SD image for a Raspberry Pi 3B+. I assume Pi2 and Pi3 works. I don't have those models to test with. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot-core/tutorials/quickstarter/devicesetup I tried Noobs Lite 3.5 (current build) but that no longer supports installing Windows 10 IoT. Again it may work on Pi2 and Pi3. I was able to download an ISO directly from the Microsoft Insider program page but I had to download the "Additional Insider Preview downloads" titled Raspberry Pi 3B+ Technical Preview Build 17661. www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsiot?wa=wsignin1.0#! Mount the ISO and then install the MSI which will save the files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft IoT. Plug in your SD card and use the IoTCoreImageHelper.exe to flash the image from the FFU found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft IoT\FFU\RaspberryPi2. Not sure if this will work for the 4. Seeing as the last official build is October 2018, I think Microsoft has abandoned supporting the Raspoberry pi which is a real shame.

Can we see iot core development on non-windows 10 machines?
@lyalin6 жыл бұрын
Since its UWP platform no, the development box has to be a Windows machine

You don't need NOOBS for it, you can run the installation through the Windows IOT Core Dash App on your PC.

I just tried Windows 10 IOT, it is really bad, it does almost nothing and I already replaced that by Raspbian! Sorry Microsoft, but Raspbian is light years ahead.

And Still no support for Raspberry pi 3B+ and higher. this is exactly why microsoft is scary for a none .net developer. always abandoning a project and let people down.
