@@cnut4563a It is currently not waterproof the way it’s done. The house wrap is supposed to tie into flashings around the windows, which don’t exist because he didn’t install any. To answer your question about the thinness of the old windows I believe it was because the price of heating was so cheap. When the house was originally built energy costs were very low. I don't usually comment, and I understand that everyone's circumstances are different so sometimes you can end up in situations like this - retrofitting some windows while trying to leave the finishes intact. My comment is in regards to the window install themselves. In the future I would recommend watching some window install videos, there are many great resources out there. It's been mentioned already but you didn't do ANY weatherproofing around the window RO. Your name is on this build publicly and for future builds you should try to do a little research first on how to properly install a window. Still love the content!

That Adult Moment with the windows - I get that! We're renovating a very distressed rural property, and I was SO excited the day we got . . . a load of gravel. Rocks! We paid for rocks lol! But they have improved so much around here - muddy, boggy paths, improve outbuildings so critters can't move in underneath, leveled up the driveway and vanished the puddles we used to have to wade through, made some strategic French drains... All of those things felt like huge improvements . . . from rocks. I totally get the boost from windows!

Order of operations is critical. I know very little and I thought it was weird to do all that trim knowing you were going to replace the windows eventually. To me, trim is a final and finishing step. I think don't worry about "finishing" the entire room for reveal part of the video. You can easily say show the room and state, "window and window trim coming in the future." For editor: music is very loud. I keep having to turn down the volume during music and turn it back up to hear dialogue.

Through this whole renovation, something I’ve always keep asking myself is why in the hell does he keep trying to finish certain areas of the house knowing there’s a very high probability of him having to rip parts back out and redo them later, smh. There’s a process that should always be abided by to avoid issues like this yet he keeps making the same mistake over and over again. I get it’s KZbin and he needs to have content but FFS, plan it out better to avoid costly mistakes.

Personally, I would recommend zip tape around the windows. It looks like you only used some sort of foil tape across the bottom outside of window in your video? When I install windows, I always run the sealer tape across the bottom of opening & up each side about 8". Then install the window, with adhesive caulking, & then screw it in after plumbing it up. Then run sealer tape around all 4 sides starting at the bottom for proper overlap. I never get leaks. No caulking, no sealer, good luck. Hopefully your eaves are big enough for a downpour, but a driving side rain may give you some leaks.

Well Alex, the house WOULD be easy to deal with if you were doing the renovation in proper order... Always start from inside to outside unless in a rare case where the outside needs to be fixed up first. Every comment since the first video on the house has been telling you that you're doing the renovation process wrong. Hell, why would you even dress up the old windows when you knew you were going to replace them? YOU made it harder on yourself, NOT the house. At this point I'm thinking you're doing this on purpose for these reactions. Either that, or your wife put you up to it. Maybe a mix of both, I don't know. And again, that basement/crawlspace needs to be finished so you can add extra storage and another full bathroom down there, with a tub since the upstairs one is a shower.
