Windows Update Breaking ASRock Polychrome Sync (July 2024)

On July 2024 Microsoft pushed an optional quality of life update (2024-07 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5040527) that is breaking ASRock Polychrome Sync and will not work until the update has been removed no replacement update has been released yet. Please let me know in the comments below if you are also having these same issues.

Just an update: I after uninstalling the update the Start Button and Search Bar stopped working, and after troubleshooting the usual fixes for that nothing worked. So finally just downloaded the Windows 11 ISO and reinstalled Windows (keeping files and programs) and this finally fixed the issue. I currently have windows update off till further notice. Everything is working and I want to keep it that way.

So yesterday I was using polychrome to adjust my rgb and polychrome stopped responding and the rgb on my fans and cpu cooler will not work. When i try to reopen polychrome it says device not connected try again. I found a usb driver in device manager that stopped working at the same time so I assume this is where the issue is but nothing I've tried will fix the problem. I've removed the driver and let it reinstall and also uninstalled polychrome and reinstalled and neither solves the problem. As far as I know the windows update was already installed before this so idk what the problem is. If anyone has any suggestions or info on how to fix my problem I would greatly appreciate the help.

Finally someone is covering this issue but idk if I want to go with the fix you went with as I’m new to pcs and I think the windows start button is more important than the rgb. Have you figured out how to fix that too since this upload? Edit I just read your top comment thanks I will try that.

Hi, i also came up with same issue but with your video i still dont get the issue fixed, so i try uninstall it then i try the beta version that the number behind now is 2.0.182 and it worked

Crap i just updated my windows😭🥲, now my ASRock is fked
