Windows Won't Lock - Super Easy Fix!

A minute into this I got up and checked my window and sure enough my top window wasn’t closed all the way. Closed it and voila it now locks. I’m such a tool! Thanks for helping solve this!!

This guy's a genius. The very first "problem" he mentioned fixed mine. It wasn't locking because the top part (the other side in my case-horizontal sliding) was not closed all the way. 👍

THANK YOU. I was getting so angry with these damn windows. Just needed to check the top part, which wasn’t fully closed. I apologize on behalf of all customers who call with these stupid problems, but I also think that during installation process installers should overtly say “check out this video” or “check this website really quick” if you’re having any problems. Would save everyone time, money, and stress.

Option #5 fixed our problem. We had bought a house and 4 out of 7 wouldn't shut all the way. After cleaning out years of dirt from the sill and that locking channel, with a little oomph we got them all to shut and lock. Thank you!!

Ah, great! The catch on the window had slipped down over the years, such that the lock was banging against it instead of grabbing it. Your suggestion fixed my problem. Weird for me to be fixing it at 11:30 at night, but it was bugging me. Thought I had to get a whole new window!

I watched the entire video and started with the first method, but my top was already fully up, but when I tilted the bottom out, and checked and found nothing in the way of the sides, I re snapped the bottom into place and the locks ALIGNED! (I had just pulled them out to wash both top and bottom, & previously didn't engage the bottom fully!) Appreciate this video!
