I had the same impression, then I bought the MSR reactor (1.7L). After a month of buying the MSR reactor, the windburner came back in stock so I bought this one as well. This happened April 2021 and May 2021 in UK, Scotland. If you live in Europe, the MSR Windburner can be found at a Danish company - Gearfreak.uk. There are other alternative options that can replace the windburner: 1. MSR reactor (1.0L, 1.7L, 2.5L); MSR windburner duo - this one has a 1.8L pot. Hope this helps.

Hi I spoke to. MSR, they have not been discontinued. There is a limited supply at present so stocks are lower than usual. C19 issues. Hope this helps 👌

@@AlphaPews Thank you. I’ve put together my own system now. A Asoto Windmaster and Fire Maple heat exchanger pot. Does the same job, but cheaper! Boils 500 Mils of water in less than 2 minutes. Thank you for making the effort though, a very nice gesture. Top banana! 😉👍

Windburner or jetboil flash 2.0?

Depends, but the MSR systems seem to be far more windproof in real world tests in stronger wind. Cold weather performance is good too.

What's going to be your main use?

I would go for the MSR reactor 1.7L if you only want to boil water (this is very fast in not that ideal conditions). MSR windburner 1.0L if you want lightweight and fast boiling water (slower than the reactor), and you might find other type of pots for this. MSR windburner duo 1.8L for fast boiling water system (slower than the reactor) and is compatible with all the pots that fit the MSR windburner. I had a Jetboil Zip and was not impressed. The main difference between systems is that MSR has a pressure regulator, thus working in better in cold conditions, with almost an empty canister... and that MSR systems are not that much influenced by windy conditions. There are several videos on youtube which compare the MSR and Jetboil systems.

I had a jetboil, they are not good in the wind, so I sold it. I recently used the mini mo. That's a nice stove but it's still not windproof. Depending on use, each have pros and cons.

Why is amazon filled with reviews and photos from people saying their jetboil melted then? Why is the burner on JB made of plastic?
