After all the rants on this channel I'm surprised you would cover a game using $1 pre-pledge AND artificial limited quantity marketing tactics. They try to justify it in the FAQ as a printing factor but it simply doesn't make sense.

This is true 🤔

I totally understand where you're coming from and it's a fair critique. Unfortunately when we take on a game to cover, I don't know in advance what tactics are going to be employed by the creator which makes it hard to deal with when this happens. I should note that I don't shy away from critiquing that creator even if we did sponsored content with them. I was and still am against these tactics, I think the $1 pre pledge is not good for crowdfunding, and I think the artificially limited pledges is lying to your audience for the sake of personal gain.

@@BoardGameCo Thanks for your response and outlining the dilemma's you face when covering a game. Whilst I don't actually question your integrity it reminds me of the issues of bias etc when creators need to use promotions as content. I imagine it's a very sharp knife edge to walk on.

As soon as I saw the event deck that can randomly ruin your turn, I immediately lost interest.

I agree 100%. Art look really good though.

@@OmegaDNAYX I was honestly very excited for it. It looked really good and then once that mechanic was revealed in a sh elf side playthrough I immediately stopped watching and moved on with my life.

@@thereal4579 HAHA! Same story! Even thought maybe if I just remove it out of the game, it’ll work for me. But no, I rather save myself time, money and effort to skip it.

Sadly, I felt the same. The art and production is fantastic, but a random event deck would feel so bad especially when the next guy/gal pulls an Excalibur type of weapon from the deck after you pulled the Black Plague that wipes you out.

@@CB-yh3db Ah you see though there IS in fact strategy to the event deck (to some degree). You can use certain skills and items (which you can buy) to become a better explorer, thus allowing you to avoid drawing bad cards, and help you find better cards. The game def has a level of randomness to it, but just like real life, the more skilled you become, the less "luck" plays into it.
