Thank you for posting this repair video. This one and the other two that deal with the manifold have really helped me understand the nature of the repair I need on mine.

Good morning, I just wanted to update you on my Windstar, so I changed the gaskets myself😁thanks to you I saved $800 but then everything else started going wrong, my car feels like she's gonna cut off it's as if she can't breathe, I cleaned the throttle body even tried the seafoam but now I have oil in my coolant but no water in my oil, weird huh🤔 just wondering if you have any suggestions on what it might be?

thuffheavenbound that's a vacuum line that controls the front windshield defroster, during the summer when you have the AC air coming from the front panel when you press the gas a little hard if that vacuum line is disconnected the air will stop coming from the front to the defroster side. just make sure you plug it back in.

takes about 5 hours to do those intake manifold gaskets top to bottom, they all pretty much go bad at 100k in the windstars and freestars. you dont have to pull the upper cowl on the windstars only the freestars. just have to get the wind tunnels loose from the top clam shell and wiggler the top shell out. all fords 3.0, 3.8 and 4.2 have that issue with bad intake gaskets throwing rich and lean codes. ford slapped the cheapest trash in there they could find . and you must always use the sequence on the intake manifold, if somebody else pulls and installs their manifold without sequencing it, it can warp and ruin the manifold. the way you torqued that is a good way to warp it, just a heads up

Jake, mine got a engine code (misfire on cyl 1). P0301 the only thing that fixed it was a new intake manifold gasket. You are spot on. I also of course replaced all injectors at 200k. Thanks brotha.

Great video. I am cursed by a 2000 windstar 3.8. we've been having no heat in the vents. Heard clicking so replaced the blend door actuator. Still no heat. Found out rear panel had no heat either. Checked the coolant tank and it was at the bottom. We have no codes, no lights indications, no overheating. Filled the tank back up. Drove with heat on high on the freeway. Only to find we had really low tank again. I checked and on the driver side of the engine there is a nice puddle of coolant right below the throttle body. Our setup is identical to yours in the videos. Looked at the firewall and it was sprayed with coolant. My wife revved up the van and I saw spitting. It looked like where the thermostat is. Not sure. We get little heat now, still no heat in rear auxillary. I'm thinking its that water pump water line you replaced. Atleast I pray it is. I don't have the money to do this gasket job. I'm watching your videos religiously. Hoping I can do this if it is that pipe. Hoping its a hose though :) Thank you for this video. Wish there were more. Would love to see how to change the coolant in these. Mechanic told us never do a flush because other problems will arise. Our container is nasty inside and we never did a flush. Had it since 06.

I have a 1538, 0171 and 0174 code coming up on my 1998 Windstar. I was thinking I need to replace the intake manifold. Now I am learning there is a right and a left and a lower. Now I have been contemplating changing the right, left and gaskets. Would you suggest changing only the gaskets? Upper? Lower? control sensors? How do I know which to change? I had four codes on. I already changed the air mass flow sensor, O2 sensor, plugs and wires, and sprayed the hoses with starter fluid and did not find any leaks.

How the heck did you get the water pipe coming out of the right side of the intake back on? I cannot get it to clamp over the clicks. Pulling with all my bodyweight!

Well done, good job!! So, correct torque, also for this lower intake, is 89 inch-pounds?? And correct sequence, start from the middle, and then go out, changing sides?/ Why did you change this lower intake gasket?? Usually upper intake manifold gaskets go bad...??? Thanks, youtheman =) Ps. was that waterpipe also leaking, inside upper intake?? Very common problem.....

Is a vaccum line coming from intake manifold, you need to remove the engine cover from inside of the van, I think has 3 clips.

I wish I seen more of the fuel rail part I know were the 4 bolts are just don't know how to remove I have new injectors I Wana put on and it didn't dawn on me I could have taken that part below the clamshell of it is real dirty plus I put on the gaskets for the shell I still have the valve gaskets and the two metal ones to do I just didn't know were they went, I'm learning by watching videos learning it's not that hard I normally take apart computers and fix them this is some new to but kinda fun
