Recommend you have a watch of the BBC "Universe' Series, presented by Brian Cox. Truely amazing - NATURE🙂
@windsurfer Жыл бұрын
Usually at most spots if it’s higher tide then where the wave breaks and beyond is safe. Some spots have shallow inside reefs. Thanks for recommendation on Brian Cox I’ve seen some of his stuff before!

Great work again Paul - I love to sail vicariously through your videos - just wondering what is the purpose of the tape on the mast
@windsurfer Жыл бұрын
Cheers Charles! When you wrap some tape over the gap between the two masts, it comes apart very easily. Sometimes sand gets in that gap and makes the 2-piece mast get stuck!

Another ripper video. Love the live commentary and I agree..... the chances of the waves, wind, the fact that the water is liquid, that it doesn't melt our skin off and that we can windsurf on it is amazing. One question that should be a bit easier to answer- whats up with your harness hook, facing up for the first rig up then facing down when you swapped sails?
@windsurfer Жыл бұрын
Not sure about harness hook I always sail with it down!

I'm loving this format, POV with the surroundings......I absolutely love the banter, I think about weird things like you were talking about!! So uncanny!! That 18mins went by in about 2mins!! VERY good advice about the wave negotiations!! I was also told by some local Taranaki guns to take the 3rd wave in the set so if you have a malfunction and come off, you wont get steam-rolled by the rest of the set....Never take the first wave of a set....I thought that was good advice too.... Looking forward to the next installment

Party waves are the best. Follow cam is by far my favourite look from the go pro. I remember receiving a big lecture from some swiss locals doing this with a mate 10 years ago at this same spot - he was angry that we were dropping in on each other! tech stuff: I reckon super view is way wider than 16mm- i shoot 16mm a lot on my porfessional gear and the go pro has tons more peripheral coverage. Its a great angle for in car coverage.
@windsurfer Жыл бұрын
Cheers Matty! I personally like the POV style because it’s the closest you’re going to get to the view you get sailing, but that’s just me! And yeah, the SuperView is pretty wide. For day 2 video I use a 4:3 ratio set to ‘Wide’ and day 3 I use 4:3 set at ‘Linear’ so keen to hear what you prefer when you see it. 👍

Thanks for the edit, quite immersive! How long does your bar hold when using it as a downhaul tool? I broke three (1 ION and 2 Dakine) so decided to stop doing that and have had the same Dakine bar since then. Maybe it's not related just wondering? Also, you seem to be holding the boom quite forward with the front hand. Is it because the sail feels heavy or do you have the lines maybe far back? Any issues with your forearm getting tight? Noticed you go underhand grip too. You have straps setup juste like mine so you can sit on the nose of the board while still being in, good job!
@windsurfer Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about your harness hooks. I haven’t broken mine yet! As for the boom holding, I don’t really much of an answer, it’s just what feels natural. The sail is light feeling. I don’t really get any issues with firearm getting tight. 👍
