Wow. I can‘t really afford all those boards and sails you need for modern windsurfing but if one day i would buy my own gear it would probanly be the new versions of this that came out. One sail, one board. It doesnˋt matter how much or little wind you can go out and have fun. I am mostly a sailor and this kind of seems more like sailing to me than windsurfing. Absolutely love it. Can you waterstart with this?

I dont know man it looks so cool bs it brings back such memories. My bro bought a complete vintage mistral malibu set a while back. It is great for a couple tacks but it got boring. Now off course that may have been too modern and radical. I have a hard time. As many I am old, out of shape....but back inthe day I was pretty dang good started trying loops in the 90s. Now I just rent once in a while and I contemplate buying stuff every now and again. Which made me discover this. You know it may be the answer to all the questions like "how do I properly rig these modern sails?" "How do I kniw which of the 100 board types I need?" "How will I pay for all the board and sail sizes I need?". In the 80s windsurfing was pure magic in a sense. Just ranting I guess but I live your enthusiasm for the roots of the sport.

You nailed it @nikolajdehaan9815 only one rig to worry about, everyone has the same mast, boom, board, fin, daggerboard....everything the same. Just jump on and have fun! Whether it be racing, freestyle, leisure or even paddle boarding. There is a reason the LT is the most popular board model currently. Many different ages sailing from teenagers right through to 75+ at regattas! Plus many females enjoying the class as well.

I want to show my brother in law this video so he can see your harness line and hand placement. Both are spot on. He runs his harness lines a long way apart arguing that the sail shape moves around so much he needs it that way. I can see his point but your method which I call the Guy Cribb method (I learnt it off Guy Cribb) is the best way.
@ELLTEE-TEEVEE Жыл бұрын
Thanks Steven! I have been experimenting with my harness lines this season. You will notice in some of my earlier videos I hav my harness lines almost touching. This felt fast and gave me a bit more length but ultimately felt a bit twitchy so I moved them back out until it felt more stable. It is worth noting that that is what works for me, there are many sailors including world champions who have them set very differently, some even use "mono-lines", basically a single fixing point. It all comes down to what feels right for the sailor, however, I do recommend experimenting and knowing that a few hours might not be enough time to really get the feel. I also recommend moving the lines further back as the wind increases.
@Team33Team3310 ай бұрын
So yr brother is correct. Spaced apart lines allow the sailor to adjust the harness point simply by moving your hands and body weight. LT-TV even agrees and says he physically moves the harness lines back as the wind increases i.e.: You're on the water sailing and the wind picks up = physically moving his lines back. It may look cool and all "dialed in" but it's NOT the way to sail with an old school sail whose centre of gravity shifts around so much.

HI @JJJ-gq4nt Yes the LT can definitely plane! This day was medium winds 12-15 knots and I was sailing upwind but trust me, they can get going! @GrandTourMovinPics back to the future! She might look the same as those iconic 70s/80's Windsurfer one designs but the Windsurfer LT combines the latest manufacturing techniques, vastly reduced weight, and channelled board to promote planing and modern sail materials to create a fun board that you can sail in anything from 5-25 knots. As a racing board, the class has seen a massive resurgence and National and World titles with entries in the hundreds (most regattas have to be capped).

@@ELLTEE-TEEVEE I was there! learning on those 70s/80's boards, no harnesses, not even battens! very unstable sails, in 20+knots !! So pleased windsurfing stands the test of time, and funny how designs cycle round, I often see 'new' designs I remember from the 80's/90's. Thanks for the vid.
