Thank you for the compliment. I got a lot of cab rides when I was a kid from MILW crews. Those cab rides led to a 41-year career in the railroad industry! RR

We were very happy to get access to Ray's footage. There is a fair amount of North Shore video out there, but precious little of the Mundelein branch. RR

I had no idea or at least didn't pay attention that the Amtrak GP40tc actually worked Chicago to Milwaukee...that engine was cool but a kitbash nightmare....a SDP40, a GP38-2 and a new underframes made from K&S brass ....I made one for a BN engineer on commuter....I think it was Corky can't remember his last name....but seeing some of your footage makes me wanna model a Milwaukee sprint ...

Mr. Heraver did more than provide photos, he wrote the script and essentially guided the production of the program! He did an excellent job. RR

That sounds like the west Chicago diamond sound

The current diamonds are now trolley, or roll-over diamonds for the CN / EJ&E. The CPKC / Metra / Amtrak / WSOR trains are pretty much silent these days when the cross the "diamonds". RR

I was a brakeman for the Milwaukee Road from 1966 until they went bankrupt in 1969, working freight & passenger. Do you have any info on the Fox Lake commuter trains? I worked those round trip from Fox Lake to Chicago but we didn’t have “Metra” cars. If I remember correctly, we usually had four cars and engine. Absolutely love the Milwaukee road.

The limits of the Rondout footage extended from Conway road in Lake Forest to the south, and Atkinson Road to the north. RR

The fall of the Milwaukee is one of the most disgusting chapters in American business history. Just ahead of all the rail mergers since 1975.
