Excellent, thanks for following along! I was really impressed with the Repour and as an update just last night opened these again, 24 days out and the screw top closure was undrinkable, the vacuvin was only marginally better but the Repour really was still a good wine. Again, I don’t keep wines around for that long, but restaurants should take note. This thing is the real deal.

I love that your assessment is about same as mine between between these two systems. Would have loved to see how Private Preserve would match up (at just 10c / use it's a steal) I got 21 -28 days out of the PP. And then of course... Coravin I'm up to 6mos.

I’m definitely curious to try some additional products, but at the same time I’m not in the market for something that works for weeks on end. I know people love Coravin, and I believe it works, I just don’t know that I want a glass of the same wine here and there over many weeks. There’s something magical to me about opening and drinking a wine wherever it is in its life at that point. I could be swayed though!

PP is a scam. The cans they sell are barely pressurized, maybe a couple of atmospheres. The cost of the argon they're selling for the volume they provide is astronomical. Their explanation that "argon is heavy and settles as a blanket over the top of the wine" is bullshit, gasses continually mix, that's the basic idea with a gas. The only way to get oxygen away from wine in a bottle with PP is to spray enough to displace all the oxygen from the bottle, at which point the PP is going to last only a few uses.

I am two years late to the party, but I have a question: if I do not have a fresh cool place to store the opened bottle for the few days I am interested in, would you recommend storing the bottle (red wine, with either vacu vin or repour) in the refrigerator, and then wait half an hour to warm up to around 68 F before to drink? Or you would recommend not to use at all the refrigerator but keeping the bottle at room temperature? I am not sure if the refrigeration benefit of slowing down the oxidation process outweighs the effects of the temperature shock. Thank you.

It’s an interesting question and I haven’t tried this side by side to confirm but I would think refrigeration would be beneficial and the one time swing in temperature shouldn’t do too much damage.

@@bin412-virtualwineeducatio6 Thank you! I think you are right, I will keep on using the refrigeration, especially in the summer. My bottles usually lasts from 2-3 days and rarely a week. I usually use vacu vin but I plan to use repour for those bottles exceeding the $50 mark. Thanks again!
