Your episode on Greek wines was very helpful indeed. In fact I used it as a guide when shopping for wines in Halkidiki two weeks ago. Some of the Xinamavro's were quite up there. Thanks again. As a side note, it would be great to know more about Georgian, Romanian and Bulgarian wines too. I think they are also noteworthy wine producing countries.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked that cast, as it's one that I wish got more attention than it does. I've been fortunate to have a few Georgian wines (and I know my way around Georgian food, a bit, anyway) so I've had Georgia on the brain for a while, and the question is how to balance a small (though historically important) area like that against the need to do casts on other areas like Austria and Portugal that have as yet gone untreated. It's the same issue for Romania and Bulgaria, only more acutely. I'll sort it out eventually, but in the meanwhile just wanted to let you know that I think about it a lot and am motivated to cast on those areas. Thanks again and cheers!

Another precise coverage and I have to give you a 10 on your very impressive pronunciation including you last words of Vino Uruguayo. I just visited Bodegas Bouza 3 weeks ago in which one of the most acclaimed enologist from Uruguay, Eduardo Boido(we went to school together), gave me the tour around the vineyards and the winery. When he showed me the labeling machine he mention how besides the front and back label the machine was also able to add the VCP round label right under the shoulders of the bottle.I was really impress with some of their wines including one called Coco which it was a blend of Chardonnay(Malo) and Albarino.

Great education - we've been seeing distributors pushing more Tannat lately. Have had some delicious ones and some not so great (I guess as with all wine!). Really enjoyed learning more about Uruguay's wine growing, thanks.

My pleasure. Glad the cast was helpful. Uruguay's really making a bid to increase its exports, so I'm guessing you'll be seeing not just more Tannat but some Uruguayan Merlots, Sauv Blancs and Albariños, among other things. I need to drink more Uruguayan wines. Would you mind saying which producers you thought were good?

I really liked Vientos from Altàntida region and Bodega Garzón from Maldonado. Both fairly reasonable price points.

Thanks. I've had a couple of Garzóns (Tannat and Sauv Blanc) and really liked them, too. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Vientos. Cheers!

Also just happened to try the Vientos Notos today - it's a Nebbiolo blend. I was not impressed at all.

Great cast!!! As Emre mentioned, is it possible to do a episode about Georgian, Romanian and Bulgarian wines? Since Georgian wines arguably the berceau of the wines. Thanks

The Unknown Winecaster Nice! I live in the south, close to the most important wine region. They made really good sparkling wine there. If you need any help, ask me... :)

Lucky guy, my cellar (including the fridge) is currently bare when it comes to Uruguayan wines. ¡Qué tengas suerte con el WSET!
