Albarino is the "new kid on the block" in New Zealand and is doing very well. Fits in nicely with our climate, food and consumer palate. Esk Valley wines, Forrest Estate, Cru wines, Villa Maria and more Great video!!

One of my favorite white varieties. I was first introduced to it at a vineyard along the Atlantic Ocean in North Carolina and have since tried many from Portugal and Spain.

Spot on. Excellent seafood wine. Usually good quality, and reasonable prices.

Wife and I just got back from a 2 and a 1/2 week vacation in Spain and Portugal and absolutely fell in love with all of the makers of albarino. There are a couple of producers in Washington State that are producing outstanding albereno as well. Palencia in Kennewick is first to come to mind.

Loving the Grapes 101 series of videos which are really informative. Congrats Christine ! Coming from Australia I would dearly love a Grapes 101 on Shiraz (Syrah) and am also currently really enjoying the Aussie expressions of Fiano, Montepulciano and Mataro to name a few. Keep up the great work 👍

One of my favorite white grapes and I'm always shocked how well it does when producers attempt to make it a bit more serious with extended lees contact...

Several established NZ names now producing/exporting young Albariño wines - best with their seafood but also a fine aperitif.

Albariño is our go to seafood companion, nothing works as well with fish shellfish and others. Starting 10 Euro for good ones is a bargain. Hope it stays a niche and prices low, like for many German Riesling hehe 🙃

Albariño from Williamsburg Winery in Virginia is a great alternative to the Spanish vintages.

This lady presents the best series on this channel. Tried the 2015 Pazo de Señoráns in 2017 which I commented on thus: _"WTF, way over 10 € for this ? But then again, as a German, I am probably spoiled with great whites for little money. OTOH, I have heard a Spaniard remark about Galician wines that their pqr generally tends to be high._ _This was my first bottle of an Albariño based wine. Green apple in a herbal cloak of nettles and grass, even a hint of something sulfuric. So I can easily see how they came to suspect that this variety may be related to Sauvignon Blanc. This is fruity but dry. The bitterness is not overly subtle or noble. 87 as solist, 88 as food wine."_ But I see that you are having the _"Selección de Añada"_ which is a slightly different product while I was having the basic one.

Excellent wines coming from a very versatile grape that grows not only in the north of Portugal and Spain but also in the south. Thanks for the video, however I must say that it was very disapointing that your map only highlights spanish territory... Alvarinho its mainly cultivated in Portugal, much more than in Spain. But again thanks for the excellent presentation, keep the good work! 😉

Being in Spain doesn't mean is automatically a warm region. I live in center Europe and the weather is same as there.

How about finding it blended with Clairette and Ugni Blanc in a Languedoc IGP!? As in La Croix Gratiot’s “Les Raisins d’Abord”?? Honestly, I was blown away. By the deliciousness and the uniqueness of Albariño in Europe outside of Spain. Tasty! And complex. Give it a pour! And it’s relatively cheap!
