Over the past five years or so I’ve done this deep dive into the scriptures that you suggest, and continue to do so, and it has completely changed how I view church. One thing that impressed me in Acts and the epistles is how important the Resurrection was to them compared to what I see in our American cultural churches. Most of my friends, who I believe are devout in their faith, seem more focused on the emotion of an awesome praise band or an inspiring message than an intimate encounter with God. But I think that is what our culture has taught them to believe is the proper way to worship. In fact, the idea of an intimate house church seems to frighten them. My biggest fear for myself is how easy it is to just go with the flow and check the Approved Christian boxes everyone wants me to check rather than doing God’s will.
@toddbu-WK7LАй бұрын
I grew up in the church. I went to a Christian school and a Christian college. While I occasionally heard about the Resurrection, we only really ever talked about it at Easter when we sang "Low in the Grave He Lay". (And why did they bury Jesus in gravy? 🙂) Then in 2006, at the age of 43, I attended a conference near Seattle on the Resurrection. I vividly remember sitting in an auditorium listening to a lecture and thinking, "Wow! This is actual history!" If I could ever pinpoint the moment that I became a Christian, that was it. My life became so much different. Now, instead of telling people that they should accept the Christian faith because of what Jesus had done in me, I was able to point back in history and say that Jesus demonstrated that He is God. The Resurrection takes our faith from being a subjective feeling to being a historical fact. Since I work in a field of logic and reason, it makes it so easy to contend for the faith from a historical perspective. I love 1 John 4:2 because it says, "By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God". There it is, in black and white... the appeal is to the historical Jesus, not some feeling that we get when we are saved. This has also made me so much more tolerant and loving of my brothers and sisters in Christ because it tells me that anyone who is able to confess that Christ is God Incarnate, come in the flesh to save us from our sins, is a Christian. If you can say that with certainty then any deviation from Scripture is a sin and not because you're not a Christian.

The Pastor of the very small home church that we go to has recently said that the problem in the churches today is that they tell everyone what they are supposed to do but they do not tell them how to do it. This video is a good starting point as to how. The thing lacking in the "institutional church" today is that fact that everyone is facing the "STAGE" and listening to ONLY ONE guy. This is insufficient . You hit the nail on the head when you said (@ 7:15 - 7:20) that we can meet in homes and have spiritually intimate conversations opening up the scriptures. Preaching is biblically mandated but my study has shown that it is primarily geared toward the "lost". The transformation and discipleship of the believer occurs mostly in those "spiritually intimate conversations" about the bible. We have these conversations every week as we sit around the table (facing each other) and listen to pastor with the KNOWN FREEDOM to interrupt at anytime to add what the pastor has said or to ask a question. Such liberty in the assembly is paramount to learning and spiritual growth. Thanks for another good video.

Matt, trying to reach out to “church refugees “ is a something that I’ve felt is God’s calling for me. We already facilitate a small gathering of people who do gather (some former institutional church refugees) at our place. We didn’t have to go search for them, God led them to us. Plus, as I’ve already shared with you, I also facilitate a small group of saints at a local nursing home who have been separated from their former congregations due to medical conditions. But I’m still hopeful that by remaining in fellowship with a couple of local traditional congregations, that the opportunity will arise to assist them into a more organic, simple church structure. It won’t be me in my own ability doing this, but rather Christ in me. Every day I can sense that our culture is moving ever so closer to a total collapse. If this were to occur, that would be the final nail in the coffin of the institutional church. Should this happen while I’m still around, I want to have established relationships that would aid in the transition into that new (actually original) form of church.

We need to rescues all those in the institutionalized church system that has made a idol of their church temples, pastors, leaders and icon crosses as things that are in heaven , on earth and in the sea - Exodus 20:4. However, I am glad that you are finding the true body of Christ outside of this church system and its thru their prayer that you will be transformed and changed. We are supported and sustained thru the Holy Spirit but also thankful that you are out searching for us and causing more fellowship. May the Lord transform you and deliver you from the false church system. We are not part of this church system but we hare here, alive and well. Praise G-d.

Tejano 37, Thanks for your encouraging words and prayers. Personally I believe that whether you hope so or not, the institutional church will eventually collapse in its current structure. I believe that this will happen because God will allow this to occur as He withdraws His support out of love for His people, in order to purify the Church. My concern is that most believers are unwilling to leave the IC as long as remaining there is comfortable. I want to be available to help them transition back to Organic Church. As a side note, is your avatar an indication that you are a fellow Texan? We reside in Central Texas.

@@robertkersten3971 Hi, I am in the north east region New York area but all Tejano by heart and soul. Thank you for replying and bringing clarity to your desired statement, I love your words in "I want to be available to help them transition back to Organic Church" I believe this is of such importance because so many, many and more many believe that once they stop attending the church system, they automatically loss their salvation. Due to that false teaching, they backslide and revert back to their old sinful ways since they are no longer in church. I grew up in a Pentecostal church and this is exactly what I believed. My salvation was tied to the church system and their church activities. Church attendance was a sign of my salvation and church activities was the sign of spiritual growth. I have friends that have learned this and still believe it, They no longer speak to me because I have tried to hold discussion on what salvation really mean but once you say anything negative about the church, and or their pastor, they write you off faster than quick. I try to hold theological/biblical conversations as a form of fellowship and speaking about the Lord, but most Church goers are not interested. They rather talk about sports, work or anything else. Once the church system collapses, many church goers will revert because they were not actually saved to begin with and small group fellowship is to exposing of their true identify and personal life. Many are in church for the family activities, opportunities for their kids, personal entertainment and a place to develop their interest and skills. I was a church musician and was also one of these same people. I was there to play my instrument. What drew me away from the church was the emptiness I felt while being there. sad to say.

After six decades, I gave up on the institution of the church a few years ago. I find my faith now to be stronger than ever. Coming from a Reformed background, I learned a lot of great things theologically but that was all drown out by the practice of the church. The church absolutely needs to return to its roots, and to stress that a Christian is anyone who professes that Jesus is God Incarnate, come in the flesh to save us from our sins (1 John 4:2ff). Anymore these days, churches exist to defend their theology and bank accounts, not the faith that binds us together in love. I am thankful for so many KZbin channels like yours that have sound doctrine yet see the influence of the culture on the church. For so many years I believed that when left alone to operate outside of the institution, Christians would drift and be radicalized. The more I examine things, the more I'm seeing that the radicalization of the church is happening from inside the institution as it seems to have lost the object of its adoration - Christ Jesus. May God have mercy on His children and return the ekklesia to that which is was originally.

My church made small home gatherings integral to facilitate healthy God honoring discipleship even though it is a big church. Multitudes followed our Lord, as we see in Scripture. I find large worship services powerful and Heaven like! Small groups are excellent for Spiritual growth and necessary for encouragement The Word says especially as we see The Day drawing near to not forsake gathering. @@revolutionofordinaries with all respect, and IMHO, more than most realize. Used to be the church and the body of Christ were synonymous. Now the body of Christ GOES to church. God is the only person that can bring illumination to HIS scriptures, not a man who negotiated his salary with a church. For almost my entire saved life, I relied on a man in a pulpet to feed me, I left the church during the plannedemic and started a regimen of daily scripture study and earnest prayer. I read so many things I had never heard taught because the pastors of the churches I attended always taught a "series" instead of going cover to cover. My purpose is not to offend but to relay my personal observations. I'm saved by faith in Christ's gospel, Romans 10:9. In fact the Greek word for heart in that verse is Kardio (the emotions of the mind).

That's the key- His way is always fruitful. You would think that after all this time and so little advance that we would have owned our own failures in attempting to accomplish what only He can. Jesus said, "I will build MY ekklesia," and the gates of hell won't prevail. He never said hell wouldn't prevail if we try to build it for Him- and in fact it has, and will continue to.

I very much appreciate your realization that institutional "big church" is the wrong system & wrong method/prescription for "doing/being church". God gave me the same realization after 20 years of being a Sunday church attending member. He taught me to be a disciple first following only Him over a long period of time & then when He gave me a vision for full-time ministry He taught me the Christian church system was not from Him. God taught me The Way to follow Him is we are to each individually/personally follow Him & Body Life is a fellowship blessing & secondary support & work as Christ leads each part. I know that sounds shocking but God taught me "church" is in no way/part a mediator or administrator between us & Him & our first calling & purpose isn't to be & do church even if the model is as close to ACTS as we can make it. Times & cultures change & God is always active & knowing EXACTLY how to use us individually & as a body. If we come away from scripted & programmed big church but just go right into scripted & programmed house church, then we are repeating the same errors...It just looks more "Biblical". You made a statement at the end about not being isolated & we effectively must have church to grow, learn, thrive, be supported, etc. Well, I agree God can grow us up & support us in ways via Body Life connection but He first & still has called me out to a place of isolation with Him to only learn from Him. I can say, with 100% assurance, He is enough. It is a vital step to first know Him just as Paul was isolated first. I believe this will happen in every disciple's walk w/Christ. So I push back a bit at that & say to all desiring to truly follow Christ...Him & only Him until He leads you to real Body Life & functioning in it. It is secondary not primary. Making church primary is a false-light doctrine &/or "Commandment" that keeps the completely divided & widely varying forms (including house church systems) of Christian religion "in business". Respectfully & Peacefully, Shawn

New Covenant Whole Gospel: How many modern Christians cannot honestly answer the first three questions below? Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary? What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below. Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. We have seen God bring people on many occassions that we didn't know where they would come from...so we keep praying and God keeps sending.

Shalom. The problem with churchs are they operating more on theology, Zero in the power of The Spirit. Yeshua said, in Matthew 10: 7-8 And as you go PREACH saying The kingdom of heaven is at hand ( not obeyed ). Verse 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils......... ( not obeyed ) This is a package deal. Which the church is short changing the congregation. How eloquent the speaker is does not heal a sick or one who is demon possessed. From my point of view it is theology, theology n more theology on salvation. After over 40 years, it is b o r i n g. What happened to casting out devils n healing the sick ? Isn't it part of what Yeshua ask the disciples to do. What is a pastor, a member of a church or disciple of Yeshua? There is nothing wrong with a believers prayer life. It is the Power of the Holy Spirit that is missing, n I am not talking about talking in tongues. Sorry did not mean to be rude.

Yes...this is why Acts is so important! It was the Acts of the Holy Spirit, not just the acts of the Apostles. Thank you for your comment!

I have left the institutionalized church system all together and must disagree with you in that we need to be in a church because we will be vulnerable outside of it. Who sustain us is the Holy Spirit, not the church system. Someone once told me that the church protect us from false doctrines, yet most all false doctrines are coming from the within the church, not outside of it. I have a relatives that while still in the church, has turned to believing the prosperity Gospel lies, along with their pastors. Not all members agree with them but to see how the church system did not protect them against this false doctrine is a confirmation that the church system does not protect you from false doctrine. So where was the support and back up against this false doctrine? Others, while in the church in ministry, divorced and married three times so they move to another church and start over with the new wife. What you say in our need of belonging is unsupported and untrue. Most emotional hurt, problems and sins has come from within the church system. There is a difference between the church, as the body of Christ and believers, and the institutionalized church system. Unfortunately, you are referring to this church system that has hinder the body of Christ, not help it In addition, being in a church system is not required to experience spiritual growth. Fellowship is so awesome and great, which I still love but unfortunately, from all the Christians that I once knew , no longer reach out for fellowship nor invite me to their men's meeting, which I have asked to remind me. Seems as if they only show interest if I am a church member only. So where is the support? But again, I still love the lord, do all my bible studies, research and write on different theological topics of interest due to my love for G-d and his word. We must learn to be independent from the church system and church membership is not a hinderance to spiritual growth. I just don't like how you ended your video in stating how we have no back up nor support when we are not in the church system. That is a lie from the church system.

I believe if you follow along with the videos here you will see that I am not really a big fan of the institutional church as a business. Hope you will dig around a bit more in the videos here. Thanks!

If you really mean the things you're saying. Then you will take a look at the last Reformation.

So that's pretty vague...can you be more specific?
