halfpuddinghalfsauce.blogspot.... Part 3 of 3 - Winfield Hall - The Woolworth Estate. Best viewed full screen to allow pausing and reading of text. Pairing a 1925 auction document and readily available photos I've compiled a companion video to the Bob Ghent Video production. Winfield Hall is one of the last remaning Long Island Gold Coast estates. Built for Frank Winfield Woolworth of dimestore fame. Winfield Hall was buit in 1916 after Woolworth's original home burned. Cass Gilbert, who designed the Woolworth Building in New York ,is often wrongly named as the architect. Winfield Hall was designed by Charles Pierrepont Henry Gilbert who designed many notable Gold Coast estates that now sadly are gone. Thanks and enjoy.
