I am French and I practiced Kung-fu 20 years ago. Tan sao is a weak parry against a round kick,so you can use the tan sao/bong sao combination to stop that kick, and eventually to catch and trap that leg attack.Thank you!

Yes, I like that defense against a kick too.

Wing chun is real?? I always thought its not real but a martial arts for movies. Not real life practical.

Yes, works great for close range contact.

Only if you are a kangaroo! Man has evolved and so has his technology. Martial arts are only practical in a very small margin these days. 400 years ago when guns were not invented I could see the benefit. Now we can stop an aggressive attacker with a good aim and a squeeze of the finger!

@@brianfurry13I think you are thinking of the old west, where they wore guns on their belts. It seems like it would take a long time to find your gun, take it out of its holster, aim it, think about the legal repercussions and fire it. By that time, I think your attacker would have already done what they set out to do. Wouldn’t you rather use your readily-available hands to defend yourself in the moment?

Knowing how to use your body as a weapon is the first line of defense.

@@brianfurry13only in places where you can carry a gun. In ancient China no one thought it was better to be unarmed than have a sword. It was illegal to carry weapons as a civilian. Like most of the civilised world.
