Hello from Romania ! I began to practice WingChun and I stop because of my chaotic life, school and work all day, like others. We must have OUR LIFE. I will take care of that and start over WingChun. Thanks for your work !

It’s for this true purpose I have wanted to study Wing Chun. Thank you for this video, for putting into words what I knew was correct and did not know how to identify.

One of you best videos ever!! I believe as you say that Wing Chun, is one of many spiritual vehicles that are here during our time on Earth... if one chooses Wing Chun, there is a constant spiritual pressure to grow and be better.. Sometimes people reach there own level or ceiling of competence (The Peter Principle The Peter Principle, also known as The Peter principle of Incompetence, claims that people who do their job well are promoted to positions of greater responsibility, and so on, until they reach a position in which they are incompetent, so they remain stuck in that position.) I've seen this with my latest vehicle; Golf.. People fail when the pressure to be better (since they chose this vehicle) becomes too much.. They refuse to take lessons or instruction, and become frustrated and quit.. I never stop using Wing Chun, and I thank you for your wisdom and patience... Perhaps you keep going because you are one of the teacher/masters that was given the grace to present the path to others... Nothing you have shared was wasted... People sometimes just can't grow any farther; at least for the moment..... Tom

It takes a while to apply wing chun in a real fight situation, I was lucky to get in my muscle memory, cos it actually come out in a real life situation, and that day on i trust wing chun for life. If I didn't train it, and didn't use it that day, I would of got stood over, but my muscle memory just worked, naturaly I couldn't beleive it, and that was just one thing I trained it gave my repitore and confidence a boost.

I find very interesting the three points you mentioned about wing chun. What I think is that students leave wing chun because they think it's easy to learn and they want to know how to use it. That takes a lot of time , years of practice.

very well said i’ve being doing wing chun in a school taught directly from sigung chu shong tin ip man lineage and i love it so many benefits and very practical let alone the spiritual side to it which I am yet to fully understand. I do know one thing in the short time i have done I have learnt some very practical ways to defend myself if I need to as it has giving me the confidence and practicality of what we can use etc

There are many reasons why people quit Wing Chun mid way, one of the most important reason is bad instructors who are not even sifus but senior students whom their sifus have assigned the job of teaching Wing Chun to newcommers. But due to the immaturity of the instructors, the students get frustrated to be trained under their unprofessional behaviour. And second is the classes are irregular and not managed professionally. They dont progress in their lessons and keep the students stuck in the basic steps. Many teachers open classes of Wing Chun but they are never committed to neither their students nor to their centres or schools, which leave no options for students but to quit out of frustration, and search for other schools and teachers were they can continue their Wing Chun learning.

I’m sorry that you’ve had these experiences in Wing Chun. I’ve never experienced this as a teacher or student.

I think with all traditional Chinese arts there is not only the technique component but philosophical aspect. They both must be understood to become proficient. Sadly, it is very difficult for many people to understand the philosophical half. Therefore, the technique itself.

It has become ridiculously trendy since the 2008 Ip Man film. Before 2008 it was fairly obscure. Trends come and go.

They probaly gave up on the first lesson, in there heads, cos i couldn't do or understand any of it, when I first seen it, and I had demonstrations and I still couldn't understand it. Even when i did understand it was hard for me to learn the structure and fuk Sao I couldn't even under stand that until I started doing perry spaing exercises. And started to under stand the hand I'd always loaded back behind the elbow, the only way I started understanding is when I got taught a basic exercise and went home and practised and build on from there, but once, I learnt fuk Sao things started feeling right.

wing or ving does sound exactly like the cantonese pronunciation for ever 永,but the commonly used word for it is 詠 - sing or aria…,wingchun being the name of 祖師婆 Yim Wing Chun 嚴詠春 ,Yan Yong Chun in pth
@sifuadamwilliss Жыл бұрын
Its the 詠 character which I've thought about a good deal. I've come to accept it "to sing a song" or "to praise" as meaning "an action of appreciation". It also blends nicely with 永 since to "truly" appreciate something is a continuous act.
