Jat Sau (Sinking) a fundamental principle found in its Siu Nim Tau form and it's also repeated in the Chum Kiu and in the wooden dummy form.

For Baguazhang and Xingyiquan, the energy does connect to the point at the back you indicated, but it’s not sinking, it’s more like pushing down on a pool ledge to push yourself up out of the water (in the case of Baguazhang the geometry a lateral slightly riding press). For those arts, it’s the outward turning of the thumb and extension of the fingers that activates the pathway. If the intention goes strongly to the palm heel, the connection goes to the front of the body and becomes dropping.

This move looks like it's part of Section 2 of the Siu Nim Tao form.

My understanding is that Man Sao, pronounced "mon sao" means "asking hand" and is often used at a leading move that can be deformed or change shape in response to the opponent's energy and convert into other techniques... ?
