Quite an educative interview. This man needs to write a book. We need all these details to help us fully understand our history of coup d’etats. I loved the history lesson to bits. Oh Ghana, such missed opportunities….

I Enjoyed every bit of it. The reason he has to cut them is because they've made their main point, or one can anticipate what's coming next...also the interviewees like to narrate every details which isn't necessary. Samuel had to interrupt them to bring them back to the important bits...otherwise it could take 2hrs on one sit

The issue about Kotoka and afrira on the waiting list to be sacked from the army unfortunately applies to rawlings as well. Rawlings was never fit to be in the military because he failed all his promotion exams but got through with little help from his friend major Boakye ghan. Its like passing a medical student to become a ghost in the hospitals or bad teachers . So finally they became cronics of national security and outlaws.

I think we should have followed Kutu Acheampong track instead, it was the best way in my personal opinion dough.

Surely, both of them (Afrifa & Rawlings) were more of nation wreckers than nation builders. They did more harm & perpetrated so much evil than good in the nation Ghana. Now that claim of a Scottish fatherhood or Scottish paternity of Rawlings is very questionable & in serious doubt. He is strongly believed or considered to be of "Lebanese" stock/lineage & fatherhood, and not of anything Scottish at all. His hyperactive demeanor and violent temperament & actions depict or fit well into most "Lebanese" charateristics who infact, were more prevalent in Ghana (Gold Coast) then as traders or businessmen, and some Syrians as well. They run a lot of businesses in Accra region and Ashanti region in those days; 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and even well into the 1990s and early 2000s. Besides, the stories fly around that the so-called Scottish father of his, refused to acknowledge him as son when he paid him a visit in Scotland when he Rawlings was still head of state of Ghana. Now think about that and the implications of this rejection, refusal or denial of paternity of a son who had risen to become a head of state. What joy & exhilaration & ecstasy & elation would a true father not have, upon hearing or seeing that his son had become a head of state. Let me grant Rawlings a little breather, that perhaps, if the Scottish fatherhood claim or consideration were true, then why would that so-called father reject or deny him patrrnity as his true blood son?? Is it because he saw a crook & murderous person who had taken-over a country in a coup d'etat and become a national leader and therefore would not associate with such a person, or it was sheer truthfulness & honesty from the Scottish man, that he was not & never will be the father of this Jerry John Rawlings?? Surely, it is only Almighty God and Madam Agbotui (JJ Rawlings mother, RIP), and perhaps some relatives and friends of his mother (Agbotui) who know who the real father of J J Rawlings is. Besides, Rawlings was called Jerry John at Achimota school. I think Wing Commander Sogbojor has even alluded to that fact in one of his interviews on Citi. It is claimed or alleged that it was later that Rawlings was added to his name to finally read Jerry John Rawlings. Today, he is dead & gone forever to face his maker. May his soul rest in peace after all the wrongs, wickedness, atrocities & brutalities, barbarities, and evil he visited on the good people of Ghana. Certainly, he has a lot to answer & account for, before the judgment seat of Christ. We hope he finds mercy and pardon for his dastardly & brazen deeds & iniquities. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; Romans 2:1-11; Hebrews 9:27-28.)

Afrifa had a bad history from the begining because he was sacked as a student from Adisadel college. The rules and regulations at that time did not colify Afrifa to be accepted in the military but they offered him a second chance and he went from bad to worse.
@sethdwira17963 жыл бұрын
That's very true. He was just a stubborn boy from his youth. And when he was a military student at Sandhurst, UK, he still demonstrated his stubborness and was constantly punished for his rebellious or stubborn behaviour. This recalcitrant attitude & rebellious behaviour almost cost him a successful completion of his military training & studies there. He has recounted some of his recalcitrant behaviours in his own book; "The Ghana Coup." A book in which he tells his life story and the pre & post events of the February 24, 1966 coup d'etat that toppled the CPP-led govt under the leadership of President Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Kutu Acheampong was using Busia's blue print to gain that so called good works that you are claiming.
@andybadu64899 ай бұрын
Even if it’s true, and so what? How many governments will do that? And i can tell you straight that it’s a lie. Busias policies were more suited along the western style but Acheampong’s was other’s and similar to that of Nkrumah. So Yentua was Busias blue print? Acheampongs African policies were Busias blue print? The Self Reliant policies were Busias? Come on you can’t just throw dust into anyone’s eyes. He’s more of a nationalist but Busias wasn’t so how were those his blue prints? The man IK Acheampong deserved better and to be honored than what he faced. Just applaud him and stop this partisan. Whether it was Busias or not he did it and do you see such these days?
