I just did this to my Mazda 6 worked like a charm. $700 savings on a new mirror the car dealership quoted. Thanks🎉🎉

Now knowing this, could you just pull the mirror off, apply tape, and re-fix the mirror, and not have to remove the backing plate at all?

There is or was a short video on youtube that shows how to take the back plate off. It's actually easy.

This has just happened to both my mirrors on a 3yo Skoda Yeti. It is definitely and issue with the original adhesive properties. I have a feeling I kept my wing mirror heaters on as default so maybe 3 years or constant heating and cooling has degraded the glue. Time to get the double sided sticky tape out...Blue Peter style!

I actually modified my amarok using VCDS so i could turn the wing mirror heaters on by turning on the rear window demister. So mine wasnt using the heaters that much, but i did use them a bit.

That’s funny you’re here because of your Skoda yeti. So am I 😂

@@charlottex4889 do you know if you left the wing mirror setting on the heating position a lot? Just wondering if that is the likely cause, rather than defective adhesive. I assume (in hindsight) they should only be in the heated position when needed.

Nice how can I do or fix my side glass I don't know how to move it at all. If I move the switch, it doesn't make anything, just a noise.

When we made the statement, "Not for mounting mirrors", this statement is referring to household mirrors. The 2X tape is for carpeting (household) interior usage. The danger is that the household mirror could fall and cause personal injury or death. This was not intended for automotive usage or anything in the exterior. Thank you. Hovarth, Rolf

The tape i used, i thought i bought it from an automotive store, for automotive use.

I just found out today that my one mirror is loose while drying it after the wash. I have to see how to remove it so I don't break it, but I probably will, since wherever I try to do things myself to save money, well, it ends up costing me money. But I'll still try anyways in case I can get it off.without breaki it

I found a video on utube showing how to remove it.

Hi How is it now? Is it still stuck on?
@rhetth-s80824 жыл бұрын
Yes, still on, no problems. As mentioned the insulating aspect may reduce the temperature of the glass during mirror heating but i am going fine. I wonder if they are originally fixed with a spray on glue of some sort, which obviously failed. So i welcome anyone to try a spray on glue.
@bobwarner83454 жыл бұрын
@@rhetth-s8082 I had similar problem to yours on mine and used loctite superglue gell. Hope it holds and doesnt effect the performance of the glass when I need it to be heated. On mine I noticed that the back plate is heated and the heat travels from the back plate to the mirror. Hope the glue allows the heat to pass effectively and the heat doesn't change the strength of the glue

Was glued on, glue it on... Why tape and rack your brain over this?
@rhetth-s80823 жыл бұрын
Well, the glue failed. I wonder if it was a spray on glue. I didnt have any spray on glue at the time and i wasnt confident it would work even if i had some.
