Metformin - Mechanism, precautions, side effects & uses

Metformin is a biguanide that acts as antidiabetic agent without producing significant hypoglycemia. This drugs acts by unique mechanism compared with other drugs and it reduces hepatic glucose production. Lactic acidosis is one of the important precautions that is to be considered with use of this drug.
